SAVE...A Historical Site ! "PLEASE"
« on: January 02, 2005, 03:17:36 am »
This would be worse than our Govt. saying they wanted to Blow-up Mount Rushmore to build cliffside condo's.....

How about we turn "GETTSYBURG" into a Golf Course, and build a Mall....

      I'm sorry I guess I'm a little "PISSED OFF"    >:(

Anyway, I see there's over 1,000 of us listed here..."PLEASE" read the link, and sign the petition !

                               Thank You !

Signed.

I can't believe that they want to let someone build a highway through the corrination site of the ancient kings of Ireland.

You were wrong in your analogy of building a mall and golf course at Getteysburg- there are so few historic sites in the US that are this important, we really can't comprehend this kind of loss.

Do you remember a few years back that Disney wanted to build a history-oriented theme park in northern Virginia?  Part of it would have taken some of the Bull Run battlefield (Manassas for you Rebs   ;) ).

As important as the Manassas Junction battlefield is, it is nothing to compare to Tara.

The only things that we have in the US that can be compared to Tara are the few sites left by the Moundbuilding Tribes, and the ones that are on par with are already State or National parks, and are therefore safe.

Thanks people...and your right we don't have anything that compares to this, was just trying to give some kind of reference... :-[

Sometimes I think certain people don't want us to know about the "REAL" history of our planet, like we're all children and can't handle the truth.   :o

Man, they don't even want us to know the real history of the United States, why would they want to tell us the truth about the rest of the world?

Glad to be of service. Yep, we Southrons are always ready to 'lay the smack down' on people trying to mess with history.

And here I thought everyone would be happy on this forum...you want to support Haliburton?

::)

Truthfully however, I do think petitions signed by those directly involved probably will have more weight than those from other nations...

Just a thought.

It's important, but perhaps you should find out all sides of the issue first?  I'm of course not saying a thing about it on either side, I just find it ironic...

Similar issues have occurred around another historical site as well as of late, which in a way is relavant to what is occurring with Tara as you would.

Also, there have been some developments in that story that I didn't think I read about on that petition site.

Also, there isn't much time left for any decisions and such.
