Andros...
« on: December 27, 2004, 06:34:32 pm »
I know Andros come up every so often, and I realize that we can't make alot of their special weapons /abilities work
But how tough was an "average" Andro ship compared to a CCH (CCH, D7W) or BCH (BCF,C&,BCHP)?
far tougher? About equal? Way overpwered?

Originally they were a terror. It took several ships to take one down. When SFB came out with the "Doomsday Rules" they were much weaker. Post Doomsday, they are still tougher, but nothing like before.

I guess what I'm interestd in is..

What would these ships match up against for a (relatively) even fight?

Dominator(mothership)
Intruder (mothership)
Conquistador (mothership?)
Python(?)
Mamba (Sat)
Cobra(Sat)
Terminator(?)

When i was playing the board game they where the Borg of their time in a way.
It took a small fleet to take one on. I kind of liked it that way,its more realistic its pretty ludicrous and vain to assume we are going to always be even or on par with every species we meet.

The same goes when i hear people talking about a balanced or fair fight, I have served in the military foe 20 years and i can tell you from personal experience and history ,that war is inherently unfair.

Thats why you use your brain and good tactics. Example? The Vietnamese could not match our science or weapons and they where more than a match for us in their environment.

:) please do not take me the wrong way, I'm not cutting anybody down  :) Its just personal preference. I really like a challenge

The first question that we need to ask in response to your question is:

Are we talking just the ships or the ships with full Sat-ship loads?

From memory, I think the Dominator, solo, is a match for say an F-BB or K-B11K.  Many CVAs with state-of-the-art fighters (no escorts) could come close too.

Slap it's full sat-ship compliment on, and you're looking at a full 11 ship ISC echelon as your BPV range...

If you enjoy this, check out ebay. You can buy a lot of old stuff for a few bucks. I purchased some old Captain's Logs for $3.15 each. They are fun to read even if I don't play SFB anymore.

If you have not tried UAW yet, give it a shot! I just fought the Andros and they ate my Vorcha for lunch! Those sat ships are tough. I couldn't kill the motherships fast enough.

I have it im flying Tholian.

I learned real fast to run fast and take the sat ships out.

I have also learned why you don't mess with the Tholians
I love this Mod, you need all of that power, and fire power just to stand a chance. You really ned to adapt your tactics as well too.

I think a Dominator is almost a match for an I-CCZ.
