You Never forget your first..
« on: December 23, 2004, 07:34:01 pm »
Or do you?
Anyone remember the name (and limited details) of your first PVP fight?

Mine was against Dizzy (I lost -how embarrasing) on Rooks Tavern
Think he blew up a F5d of mine with some stupid Fed ship + a Qship
I remember killing the Qship, which seemed to annoy him.

He was kind enough to offer some advice afterwards in chat, and I don't remeber him killing
me ever since so maybe I listened..

Believe it was Arctic Fire.
I just got me a shiny Fed CA of some sort.
Some f*(&($%^ Lyran (don't remember who) with a BB and a couple other ships introduced me to the esg.
Very short fight, I was back in the yards looking for another shiny ship.

I'm not positive, but I think it was Max Power back in the MPlayer days.

First dyna PvP was probably Fluf back in the GFL. I'm sure we were both flying something utterly chedderific.

My cheese was blue back in those days though.

Oh this is a fun thread!

I have 3x distinct memories of Articfire 1sts, since it was my 1st campaign...

But b4 I get into that, just a brief setup... I remember being the BIGGEST n00b, I mean, I realy was, cuz when I logged unto articfire, I knew NOTHING. In fact, to compound my newbishness, I scrolled a bit to the right and left of the blue blob I was in on the map and only saw neutral hexes, so I figured it was a Co-Op server only. Boy was I elated when I finally saw this wispy thin red line I traced back to a bigger red blob!

My 1st co-op was with Mu. The two of us ran some great co-op missions together and worked out a couple strats to run faster mission times... Mu and P81 and the rest of them made that server totally worthwhile. The CiC forum was awesome. So much coolness...

My 1st PvP... Hrmmmm I'm not sure vs who, but I killed him. That I know. It was electrifying! Greatest feeling. I think that was my first PvP game ever online with any game...

But I remember 2x that standout. One was vs Corbomite as ISC. He pwnd my Fed ass in so many ways... I stopped playing that whole day he handed me my 1st loss and I rethought all my tactics. I dont think I have ever beat him in a serious match since... That f*cker. The other was vs Brez. What an ass. 3x MDC+ fleets... I still f*cking hate him... We see-sawed back and forth with kills, but I never used cheese when I beat his ass, so i'm the better person. Makes me sleep better at night knowing that...

My first PvP was Articfire.  It was me in a Romulan Firehawk K vs. Autolycus in some Hydran LordCheeseship or other.  He had two of them, and a lot of hellbore firing fighters.

Nasty fighters.  You just haven't died until you've tasted massed hellbores.

I really miss Autolycus.  Heck of a nice guy, and fun to fly with or against.  I'll never forget the time in CW2 when he and I were fighting over control of a planet.  Again, hellbore fighters were beating my Romulan fleet.  "Well," I thought, "I may not be able to beat his fleet in a stand up fight, but he doesn't realize I'm an insomniac!  I'll keep slamming my ships into him until he falls asleep!"  No matter how late I stayed up, however, he always stayed up later.

It was weeks later, winging with him on CW3, that I learned he was unemployed.  LOL!  I never stood a chance.

It was on CW5. I believe my first PvP was probably against WarSears. I'm not to sure though. I was in a F-DD+ Vs a K-D5D. It was not a very pretty battle

Articfire's, in a F-CAR. I have no idea who it was against, but it was a classic battle vs an R-WE+.

Fortunately my opponent was not much more experienced than I.  ;D

I'm not sure but that might have been me. I recall a long battle on Artics with a CAR and me in a WE both beaten senseless and ending up boarding each other and the CAR getting the capture.

I think my first PvP was pre GameSpy where I rushed my Fed opponent in a D7 tried an Alpha overrun and was promptly spaced.

Ah yes......I remember it well.

My first server was CW4 - when the Klingon empire was making a big-time push for Ghdar.  The Gorn ended up with starbases in every hex around the homeworld just to keep those Klingon bastichs off it.   Even with that, the Mirak had to come take one starbase back for us.   What an introduction!!   :o

My first PvP, me in some Gorn cruiser vs SunTsu in a D5D.  I thought, 'ok, time to show this guy the Gorn anchor', what I got shown was the drone drag.   He performed it perfectly.   It didn't help I was flying most my missions in F3 view.  I was like, 'damn, that's a lot of drones, HEY, where did those come from, HOLY SH*T.    Wow, what a newb I was.   I had played SFB with all my friends for years, but it didn't help me in a live fight.

Since then I've gotten a tad better  ;D (maybe) and the Gorn GDT squad has split up (Scippy and I being the last two Gorn members).  Chuut went off to fly Mirak, the other two members don't play any more.  Well, Scipio and I did take over the Confederate offices.   ;D

Ah yes, the good 'ole days.

IDSL:  Me in I-CCY against Chuut in Z-MDC. He ran out of drones and went away.

I was confused when he said: "I will stay out of this hex for a while."

Even before the disengage rule, some of us would fly by its standards anyway as the patrol bug made anything else unfair in my opinion.

My first PvP kill was during Storm Season I (CW6), during the defense of PinkyGen.  I managed to chase down Matsukasi in my NVS right at the border and got him with an SP.  Of course, about three missions later I had my first PvP death at the hands of Steel Claw, who pomptly avenged Mat by schooling me in nothing flat.  ;D

First Dyna PvP was on an IPEast, I was in a Hydran Crusader, Lord Someoneoranother, (not one of the current Lords), was in a B10, I ran, I got drafted and ran again, I thought I was  saving the man the trouble of blowing me up and wasting his time. It was with some shock that i found him bad mouthing me on chat, as a n00b, I had no idea what the patrol bug was. I learned.

First proper fight was on UO (Unversity of Oregon server), a KBFer in a D5 showed my CM the error of my ways.

First Victory was against the same KBFer a day late, both still in the same ships.

I can't say that I remember the first Dynaverse battle I took part in but there was a memorable series of them very early on.  This was before the "Patrol bug" was discovered.

On one of the earliest EAW Dynaverses there was an afternoon that I spent in my K-D7L fighting a series of holding battles against a Fed in a BCH who was trying to take over an isolated Klingon base well away from the main Klingon/Federation border. Battle after battle one of us would be driven to retreat for repairs but never could either of us decisively defeat or destroy the other.   It was one fun series of battles.  I'm sure both of us were burning prestige like there was no tomorrow on the repairs and resupply.
