Here's another question
« on: December 22, 2004, 10:37:46 am »
How hard would it be to have certain races available/unavailable over the course of a campaign?
Have races A,B& C present for say a whole 20 year campaign. HAve race D availabe from 168-171, race E from 175-177
Race F from !88-190 etc.

Can this be dome with a server reset allowing people of the core races to keep theri prestige or would stuff get screwed up?

Its possible, but would require (at this stage) a lot of editing of the DB file, or manually adding all the accounts with prestige to a new DB file. Good luck.

Combine the shiplists while changing all the YFA & YLA?

Make it so none of race A's ships are built after year XX.XX and only race D available after that....

If some one still has an older ship, they won't lose it... but replacing it will be impossible.

Hmm

I hate admitting than a guy who wears a skirt may be on to something.. but I think this would work.

Wouldn't it be possible to have say 5 races, all at war with each other. 3 of the empires have ships available from
168-190, one has ships available from 168-170, and one from 186-190.

Not without too much DB editing.

So I'm assuming "Good Luck" is some crazy Aussie slang for "Ill write a program that lets you do just that with the touch of a button" ?

Thanks Tracey

It depends on what you mean by "race".

If you use combined shiplists, but the map remains unchanged over the course of the entire server, then a simple FYA LYA edit in the shiplist will do it.

If you want people to actually get a new account in a new race after a certain date, but keep their prestige and ship, this can be done.  But it will require you to edit the DB.
