So sitting there in front of your computer wondering waht to fly for SGO?

It's easy

Lyran.

Lyrans have numerous benefits, and very few pitfalls
1- We're definetely the Anti Cheese force for SGO
How so? You ask- look at the other races,
Feds- F14's, F15's, droneboats
ISC- Practiaccaly the cheddar fleet
Roms -PF's with Plasma D and Plasma F- must be hard to get by
Gorn- Better PF's with D and F torps?
Mirdan- Rigth, these guys were tough last time, wait til this time
Klinks- D5D's, PF's with drones, An "improved" DNH

What do the Lyran come with? We have the worst PF's, No upgrades to our DNH

But you get to fly knowing that you're not realying on cheesy gadgets to win.
You get to fly knowing you're flying with me.
(And well, Pig too, unfortunately, but we've heard the Gorn are kinda non discriminatory on who they accept, so we're hoping)

No- See that's the best part, I generally prefer to fly by myself (no witnesses so to speak)
I (think I'm ) RM and I really don't like can't stand Big Ships, so they may become yours..
I also (unlike some Die Hard players) don't really care if you lose a VC ship or not. I'll be more than
happy to throw another one your way just so I don't have to do anything complicated like think of someone to give it to.
Plus trust me - when you run over something with that ESG it's really alot of fun.

Did I mention the availability of ships? As of now the Lyran Hordes consist of me
(and well Pig, but we're thinking of sending him as military Liason to the Kzin)

Let's start with the early release (compared to sfb) of the P refits (as we are used to) giving them an early PvP edge...
Let's add in the fact that they are THE pseudo fighter race and as such none of their casual tenders (which is pretty much every ship) will have them without the penalty other empires suffer being 'special' ships.
Let's add another consideration which are the revised PF's some of which lose a dizzie in favor of a point of power.

But you want-to-be Lyran's can look at it this way:
I hate flying anything bigger than a CW.
Who cares what Hexx flys? He'll be so friggin far behind the lines we'll never lose it.
So there are gonna be oodles of vc boats around... with 3, 4, even 6 esg's on each one!

Try using lyran pf's.
Hopefully they suck up a few drone/phaser shots before they go poof.
If you release them before your opponent is crippled, you just tossed away that pp.

Hmm Lyran PFs vs Gorn PF's
        Lyran PFs vs Rom PF's
        Lyran PFs vs Kzin PF's
        Lyran PFs vs Fed PF's
        Lyran PFs vs Hydran PF's
        Lyran PF's vs ISC PFs

I think in pretty much all cases Lyrans come up short (HAH! I used it first) I admit I don't know if the ISC even fields PF's
But sight unseen I'm willing to bet ehey're better than the Lyran ones.
BTW- Don't haul out a Dis (if it's the ship I think you're using), rip that frickin ESG off the Taldren one and add a point of power.

Lyrans are hands down the least Chees race on SGO.

Hey, you don't want inflamitory responses, don't make inflamitory posts.
Easy to slam Lyrans, no one plays them on a regular basis. All the old hands are long gone.
Sure, drop 4 power from the only decent ship other than the CF. The pf's suck. I'd take a mirak fighter squadron, or even a klinkon one over a lyran pf of any sort.
Oh, and once the cwlp comes out, there is nothing worth flying until x-ships, unless you are into the bcxx thing. Don't know how it is for other races... 2272 pretty much does it for lyran tech.
Hey, I think Taldren was right on the dates, at least for play balance in the game they put out.

Lyran PFs are free on SGO, other races need to spend CP/BP to deploy them.  Kinda compensates fro the "suck" factor.

Since the Klingon and Lyran shiplist are combined I think the Lyrgons will have plenty of toys.....
