My SFC3MOD (Released)
« on: December 09, 2004, 03:23:53 am »
Hello all,
I've made a "small"* MOD for SFC3, and I want to release it for testing and opinions. This MOD will replace 18 stock ships(9 federation, 6 klingon, 1 Romulan, 1 borg, 1 ferengi) and add the Valdore from ST:Nemesis. You can download it from http://yochenhsieh.myweb.hinet.net/SFC3-Assets.exe. It's a 7z self-extrator, just extract it to the Assets folder. Please let me know if you found any bugs or have any suggestions. :-)

Thank you for clicking in and reading this post. :-)

The K'vort Class doesn't have *iD.bmp textures.
It will be fixed in the final release.

Hi,
Yes, it should work fine in single player.  :-)
It is mostly a stock-replacement mod.

Thanks, I'll post it there when it's finished.
Just found something went wrong with the textures of K'tinga and Saber and fixed them.

I've upload an updated MOD, fixed all previously found bugs and reduced all textures to 8bit(256 colors) -- to make the mod smaller and low-end system players happier. :)
The size of the new mod is 34.1MB(35,824,576 bytes).

Hello, Stephen,
I'm glad you're interested in the mod(and me!). :)
I'm a Taiwanese. Most of the PC games I've played are ST titles(the exceptions are Jurassic Park: Trespasser & Operation Genesis). My favorites are SFC1, OP, SFC3, DS9:The Fallen, and Dominion Wars(the game published by SSI). I started to know more about "game-modding" because of SFC1, while there were SFB2SFC, Newships Project, and Valley of Death which provided lots of downloads in the old days.
I make this mod for SFC3 due to many of its ships came from BC and I'd like to see this game have its own style, not just copy from others. So that I replaced almost all stock fed/kling ships, but still keep the rom/borg/pirates/rakellians. I don't have 3ds max, I like 2D graphic editing more than 3D modelling. This mod is mainly made for those who want to play the SinglePlayer story campaigns again. :)
For more info about the making of the mod, I expand the credits list to a "credits&changes.txt":

Thanks, I'm looking forward to your opinions. :)

Please at least review the damage textures/effects because I spent most of my time on it.

These shots were taken during early development stages, the damage textures in the current mod package are similiar but a little more detailed.

The Enterprise-E under Borg attack...

Hi,
The current mod package is 38.3 MB (40,180,698 bytes), and is just uploaded. If there's no further critical bugs or problems found, this would be the final release. I'm still open to opinions or suggestions and see if I can make it better. So, please download and try it!  :)

Merry Christmas!

Hah!  This is riding very similar to MY Stock Ship Replacement Mod (More info here).
The only problem is that I can't get it uploaded (I'm on dial-up, need I say more?).

I'll give this mod a download tonight.

Hello, Greenvalv.
Actually my mod is almost identical to Scorpion's Stock Replacement Mod(btw, Nightsoft is down... again :()which was made last year by Scorpion. The main difference is that I remade the damage textures myself and I didn't replace the stock Romulan, Borg, Pirates, and the Rakellian*. Therefore, this 38MB mod has only 20 ships plus 1 shuttle...  ::)
* I replace the Warbird, Cube, and add new model for the Falcon and the Pirate/Rakellian shuttle.

I havnt tried this yet but one things for sure the stock models do need replaced in sfc 3 they look terrible !my opinion thou, there are some nice models in the gen 2.0 mod the valdor model in that mod is the best lookin one yet i think personally ,as well as some others. A stock model replacment mod will be nice.

I'm using that one in my mod, it can be found as a single download at Trekmods.com (The site where I got half of the models for my mod).  Staryards is also a good place to look (But the Valdore over there is the first Valdore ever made by Dawn).

Then there should be a lot difference between our mods: 16 ships in my mod were from Staryards, 2 from UnimatrixOne, others were from Moonraker(K'tinga), Newships Project(fmsx), and Trekmods(Valdore).
