Pilot backgrounds, what do you think?
« on: December 05, 2004, 11:56:12 am »
A while back there were a few posts where pilots had written a little roleplay about their online persona.  I was thinking it might be kinda cool if everyone wrote a little bit about their personas for future roleplay purposes.  Things like shipnames, a physical description, the names of their officers, and any other tidbits that might be interesting.

Is their any interest in this idea?

Gook's probably got the one from the original Taldren boards.  I think he even posted it here once.  It's got a post from Zormorius in it so it should be easy to search for.

Working on my own at present, here is some info about my crew.

Ship:  NCC Rosinante

(to be added in the future)

Captain:  Chuut-Ritt,

Slightly large for a Kzin, A strategist type primarily rather than the typical "scream and Leap mentality of most Kzin captains. Likely as a result of his upbringing.   Father was in the Kzin Diplomatic Corp. and Chuut grew up on Gdhar among the Gorn, where he learned a certain degree of patience, and to be tolerant of other cultures.

Motivated by adventure and profit.  Proprietor of The Star's End Bar, a hotbed of intrigue, Black Market dealing, gambling, and exotic pleasures, all for a price.  Has often taken mercenary service with other Empires even against the Kzin, but managed to in explicably achieve a pardon each time likely through blackmail.

Enjoys good relations with many of the most famous military figues from across the Alpha Quadrant, aliies and foes alike, and is equally comfortable drinking Bloodwine with Klingons, or Saurian brandy with the Gorn.

Chuut generally prefers to employ mercenaries, as he feels those that are motivated too much by patriotism tend to act foolishly, those who are motivated by money are much more reliable.

The presense of many non-Kzin are unusual, as are the inclusion of many females among the officers and crew.  Chuut sees this as an advantage as he is able to recruit the most talented females of some races who can find opportunities on his ship that would otherwise not be available.  Certain positions are, however, reserved for Kzin only, weapons and Helm being the primary ones, in order to please the Patriarch, who Chuut doesn't always obey, but tries not to upset too greatly.

First Officer:  Rhuut-Ritt,

Huge even for a Kzin, incredible skilled in personal combat, littermate of Chuut.  Engaged to a human female much to Chuut's displeasure, although Chuut can find no faults in his fiancee Miss Theela Wu other than the fact that Chuut had counted on Rhuut to carry on the bloodline.

Helm:  Dances with Rocks,

A younger smallish female Kzin, very talented, saw Chuut as her only hope to fly a warship in the male dominated Kzin society

Navigation:  Kiva Bosco,

Zibalian, male, Incredible knowledge of the black market and pirate facilities.  Joined as he shares Chuut's love of adventure and profit, hates Ferrengi but has similar morals.

Science Officer: Iriana,

Deltan, female, a history of trouble, and love of recreational drugs kept her out of Starfleet, despite her intelligence, she is fascinated by feline species so saw this as a golden opportunity.  Her specialty is xeno biology.  Best friends with Calypso, and Xia Xo, whos shapeshifting aability fascinates her.

Communications:  Calypso,

½ Lyran, ½ Caitian, female, signed on as 1/2 breeds were not trusted by the Lyrans, and the Federation rules were a bit too strict for this very independent female.

Ships Doctor:  Xia Xo

Chameloid, (a shape shifter) female, signed on to explore the galaxy and its races.  Rescued by Chuut-Ritt from forced service on a Klingon starship, and offered the option of release or surving on board the Rosinante as the ship's Kzin doctor had been a casualty of the encounter.

Weapons Officer:  Sender of Claws,

male, average sized Kzin, just into adulthood and on his first space assignment. not so talented but his father was Weapon Master to Chuut and Rhuut.  Younger 1/2 brother of Breaker of Bones.  During times of crisis, Rhuut-Ritt will often take over his station.

Engineer:  Falstif,

Male, Wadi, a virtual super genious when it comes to engineering esp transporter and holodeck tech, very tall, very arrogant in an aloof way, loves all forms of games and gambling, the more complex the better.  Designs many of the more exotic games featured at the Star's End Bar.

Marine Commander:  Breaker of Bones,

Average sized Kzin, with great combat skills, on par with Rhuut's.  The two will often spar for hours.  Unquestioned personal loyalty to Chuut and Rhuut, but not too smart, a comrade of Chuut and Rhuut since they were cubs.

CO: Captain LeRoy, Abraham T, Starfleet Strategic Command Fleet

     - Of Southern US heritage and a native of Florida, enjoyed a rural upbringing, and is comparatively old-fashioned compared to his colleagues.

     - Joined Starfeet for the opportunity to combat the enemies of the Federation and see the universe first hand, but leaves the heady scientific stuff to the scientists themselves.

     - Diplomacy isn't his forte; he'd just as soon as "shoot 'em all and let God sort 'em out" as the old Earth saying goes.

     - Can tend to be either too aggressive or too cautious in combat and has yet to attain a balance between the two ( :banghead: ).

     - CO of USS Foxtrot NCC-? ? ? ? (battlecruiser fitted out as either a BCV or BCF depending on circumstances). Has been temporarily reassigned to various other vessels from time to time according to strategic needs. Sadly, one of these secondary assignments, the CC+ USS Gamecock, was SD'ed outside of the WYN Nebula in order to avoid capture at the hands of the Romulan praetor's flagship. The details of the incident are as of yet undisclosed, but the occurrence is speculated to be somehow connected to Chutt-Ritt's possesion of the Guardian of Eternity and the rumored infiltration of the Star's End Bar by an agent of the Federation.

     - Common idiosyncrasies include the raising of livestock in his vessel's cargohold and puffing on a corncob pipe periodically throughout the day.

XO: Commander Marshal, Johnathan M

     - Serves as LeRoy's first officer and compensates for his glaring lack of diplomacy.

Chief engineer: Lieutenant O'Neil, Michael D

     - Makes the ship go.

After all this time, I suppose that I should have an entry.  8)

Empire:  Inter-Stellar Concordium  (ISC)
Race:  Meskeen
Place of Birth: Unknown
Rank:  Captain, GFL SFC2/OP Combined Fleet division
Known command ship:  Heavy Battle-cruiser CSS Khazad-dum  (I-CCZ class)

Notables:  Head of Mission Design and Development division.  Dyna SQL Server consultant.
Patents:  AI Stripping, Randomized in-mission Map Terrain, SFC-OP tactical warp, GaW Tholian web snare prototypes, Recurring in-mission Ship Reinforcements, in-mission Primary Enemy class matching AI, in-mission Enemy AI add-ons for drafter's restricted class ship (ie. BCH, DN, BB), Bonus PP for PvP kills and Taco Bells, superior mission quality control, nasty EEK AI, etc., etc., etc.
Has been known to make dyna Admins. rue the day they said maybe the EEK missions were a little too "easy" that release go-around. *snicker*

BIO:  Born of lower Meskeen aristocracy, Lord el-Karnak, first became noticed in the ISC Military academy when he "dropped" a banana peel outside an unpopular pompous instructor's office that sent the beleagured faculty member into a 90 degrees landing.  Foolishly bragging about the escapade promptly "volunteered" the loud-mouthed frog to do extra essays on the state of contemporary space battle-field simulation programs and their need for future improvements.  If the faculty had thought this was punishment, they were sadly mistaken. :P

Upon graduation, Karnak was able to pull some strings to gain posting to the elite squadrons of the fleet so that a I-CCZ command was never far away.  Often the technophiled frog relied on his techie skills to overcome any difficulties his occassional  caustic outbursts may have caused. As a ship commander, Karnak quickly gained a reputation of not "suffering fools gladly".  Many an officer that made the same mistake more than twice on his ship, found themselves quietly assigned to convoy duty by ISC High Command.

As dynaverse time wore on, Karnak found himself embroiled in the tricky world of inter-stellar politics and diplomacy.  Following the old Earth diplomatic policy that states: "in Washington, if you want a friend, get a dog", Karnak succeeded in riling up practically the whole alpha quadrant. When asked by ISC High Command if this was a good idea, Karnak wise-cracked back, "What do we care? We are ISC...that means we BBQ 'em first and pacify 'em later.  Not the other way around." :D

Apparently, this foreign policy worked because for eons, after the great SS2 war, nary a galactic power would challenge the might of the ISC navy in serious dynaverse combat leading to an adoption of the "Fleet in Being" policy by the ISC to maintain order in their part of the Beta Quadrant.  It was a quiet time for the ISC officer corps, where many were dispersed into other pursuits while they "sat on the mud-swamp beach". A precious few ISC officers enlisted in the service of other Quadrant power's navies during the General War that the wise peace policy of the ISC guaranteed an unfettered time of chaos and anarchy in areas outside of their control. After a very successful run as a Dominion fleet ARM and mission scripter in the SFC3 DomWars/IslandWars universe, Karnak non-chalantly took up service in the Mirak, Hydran and Federation fleets, where he decided unequivocally that drones drive him crazy. Nevertheless, in the process, the Meskeen captain made some good contacts in the Klingon, Mirak, Hydran and Federation fleets that form part of his tight circle.

Currently, Karnak has retired from active ISC military service and has closed down the offices of the EEK Missions Technical branch for both SFCOP and SFC3 games in spite of the ceiling high SFCOP/SFC3 mission purchase orders assaulting the overwhelmed mail-room staff.  He is on indefinite detached duty in the SWG universe.

Flying Style:  Known to favor the standard mid- to long-range combat philosophy of the ISC and will wear the opponent down in a game of patience no matter how long it takes.  But, if the opportunity is offered for an unexpected crushing short-range blow, this sneaky frog will take it. When flying ISC, does not consider droners dangerous.  Loves to crush egg-shell K-F5 fire-crackers in his EEK missions with one alpha-strike. Only other race Karnak considers himself knowledgeable in is Klingon due to his once secret  ISC Intelligence extensive tour of duty  as a Klingon captain in the Klingon Deep Space fleet as Capt. vestai-RukhGaz, House of estai-Khemerra.

Foreign Cultures:  Knowledgeable in both Federation and  Klingon culture and language.
