Topic: Management credo (Read 2097 times)

For a class tomorrow I have to come up with a credo for my management style. Now, I have no intention of becoming management, I'd rather hide in a cubicle the rest of my life, but I need this credo. While I haven't figured out the credo yet (desptie much time thinking about it and brainstorming) I HAVE come up with a possbile intro:
"THE MEANING OF LIFE IS TO CRUSH YOUR ENEMIES, SEE THEM DRIVEN BEFORE YOU, AND HEAR THE LAMENTATION OF THE WOMEN
Oh...wait...
Wrong speech..."

management credo? Mine would be "Get involved with those you manage."

If you are involved in a variety of ways, as a teacher, friends, etc, they will respect you.

If not that one then "Act invincible, even when you're not. Nobody can tell the difference."

Positive reinforcement can accomplish ten times more than voicing threats.
Every person who works knows they can be terminated. However, if you give your people positive reinforcement, they will usually try harder.
Firing people is the side effect, not the objective. I am currently working as a 'coach' on my job, training the new people. I firmly believe, from five trips to LMET school in the military, that one must use every single method available to get workers to be more efficient and turn them into a profitable member of the team.
And don't be afraid to make a decision. It is needed.

According to my understanding of management those who get into those positions are the thick-skulled who survive the long term asbestos poisioning from our building.

I see you've atteneded the Bill Gates school of management.

What it lacks in originality it certianly makes up in effectiveness... but I like the original Ghengis Khan version:

"The greatest happiness is to vanquish your enemies, to chase them before you, to rob them of their wealth, to see those dear to them bathed in tears, to clasp to your bosom their wives and daughters."

less succinct - more evocative :-)
