List your top ten... no make it fifteen, best pilots you think are still flying the D2 today. (I'm bored). Might be interesting to see how it looks.

That are STILL flying? I'll take that as in the past 3 or 4 campaigns... And this list isnt exactly in order...

1.) Madelf - Rom
2.) Corbomite - Any Race (The best of the best. The Top Gun of any list. Ever. If you ever saw the light of day in a battle with him, he would be the nightmare that lurketh within the shadow your ship would cast. Get away... far away. Fools are those who dont fear him.)
3.) Die Hard - Fed
4.) Kreug - Klink
5, 6.) Kroma/S'cipio - Gorn
7.) Chuut - Mirak
8.) Marcus
9.) 762 - Hydran
10.) Maverick - Tholian
11.) Blade - ISC
12.) Firesoul - Lyran
13.) DM6 - Hydran
14.) Doggy - Klink
15.) DrAzteca - Fed

LOL!

If you saw the way FS smacked me around on GW4 you wouldn't be saying those things. Of course he out weighed me by 50 BPV and I flew like a n00b (I had just finished an hour long battle with EE's NHK and I guess I didn't feel like another), rushing him and getting waaaaaay to close to his R torp.... twice.  ;D

Well, since the above lists aren't in order, I won't bother making mine either.  Here's what I think though, for what it's worth.

Dizzy, Die Hard, MuadDib, Byda, Agave, Chuut, Kroma, Jem, Krueg, Dax, Soreyes, Doomstone, FireSoul, Mazeppa (he did have a cameo in gw4), Reejr, 762, BearSlayer, hmm, I'm at 17, better stop.

Guys, really you're making me blush here.

Only thing is it's spelled "Hexx"
Not "Madelf"

Thanks though, it's good to know you've all been paying attention.

OK here is the rest of the list and I'll be so bold as to place them IN order

1) Die Hard
2) MadElf
3) Corbomite

At this point the list splits into 2 sections.  The first is on a P v P basis only.  The second also includes the pilots impact on the strategic campaign, things like doing those dirty DV raising chores where necessary, planning, and my favorite being sneaky.

Pt I

4 )         762
5 )         Skull-n-Bonz
6 )         Jem
7 )         Pardek
8 )         Firesoul
9 )         Maud Dib
10 )       Dizzy, Kroma, S'Cipio & Tracey G  (tie)

PtII

4 )        S'Cipio
5 )        Kreug
6 )        Deadman 6
7 )        Warsears
8 )        Soreyes
9 )        Agave
10 )      Hooch

*note there are several excellent pilots who just barely missed these lists, but don't miss my downed shields, and a few who would have made it but may not still be playing.

I have to admit it is a hard list to accurately compile as my listing is base merely on my personal experiences, and some pilots might deserve better or worse ranks.  For example, as far as the doing of the dirty work I have a lesser knowledge of coalition players who do this, but I do know that when Kreug is on the entire coalition seems to move with more purpose.

Also, some pilots I've only tended to fly with or against when they are in larger assigned ships, Tracey G may rate higher than I have her, but most of my experiences with her was when she was flying a DN.  Similarly, perhaps some of the pilots fly beeter when they have a better wingman than myself, or fly worse vs a combo not including me.  I know for a fact that Skull seems to have my number, but perhaps he doesn't have that of others, so it is a very personal list.

Two particular pilots I suspect might make my list in the future for part 1 are Alfman and Dr. Azteca as they seem to get better each time I face them.

Yes, for 2 reasons

First, he is on voice comms and can thus make his wingman fly better.

Second, I'm only half as likely to get a kill on you as on him but he is 5 times more likely to kill me.  You take less chances and he pulls off some J.T. Kirk moves, as he says "I'd rather be lucky than good".

Don't take offense MadElf I still think you are wicked good, but I just got the balls to say what I think without the necessity of political correctness of not putting the pilots in order.  I hope you can respect that.  And don't worry I place myself far down the list below you.

You would likely rank higher Dizzy if you flew to your potential and gave up a few of those "Stupid Pilot Tricks" on those who wont fall for them.  On GW 1 you flew like a champ in that 2 v 2 where we winged together, yet so many times I've seen you screw up trying on of the aforementioned tricks.  Now my matches with you are among the most fun, I admit, but the pilots listed above you are less likely to try those kinds of tactics or get a wingman killed.  Do you know how many times I've had a certain Tequilla saturated Lizard crying on my shoulder about how he could have finally beaten Die Hard if not for Dizzy?  Its a sad sight, trust me..... ;)

Anyhow you could definately rate much higher if you didn't so underestimate your foe.

I find it hard to gage someone's skill when your out classed x2 or vice versa ::)....and find the whole notion kinda silly and prone to hurt feelings or ignite some flamage :-\...hell ...even traditional racial match ups arent perfectly balanced...and arent meant to be....

A campaign setting, with uneven match ups inherent in the system ,And outside Pressures of VC on your boat, should not be a refelection of ultimate skill when so many random factors are involved...

This is no dig at all...but take this viewpoint as example...

Me and DH are like 1 and a bunch of "got aways" and a whole bunch of "killed by's"...over the corse of years of campaigns....

But "almost" every time I encounter him on a server....he commands a DN...and I'm usually in a D5D or D5L ..etc......you do the math...

Now..as he'll tell ya...I usualy do my best to kick him in the shins while he's killing me.... :-*....

Is he a better pilot than me?

*shrug*....I dont really care..or think about it in those terms...

I consider it part of the game...my goal is to make him kill me or run me off while trying to put up an honest fight....I find it a valid military tactic to commit a small force to tie up a large enemy resource...so I do it...and once and a while..I give him a bloody nose, and that makes it all worth it... ;)

The only way you guys will settle this is with a series of battle with identical ships with a ref in game....anything else is smack 8)

My list of best pilots are the guys who never make the best pilots list ;)

Oh yeah...and when you guys get his all figured out.....shake hands....and realise that without that guy in that other ship out there....the guys with pitful tactics and fumble fingers....the "also rans" and "easy marks"the guys who get blown up hundreds of times and still dont get bent.....the hotheads and the rest.....we wouldnt have a game at all....just a bunch of AI slaughter... :(

Just keep it about the game. ;)

Hmmm
Well in my view I've won PVP's against Chuut, Dizzy and Kroma (details aren't important)
I'll claim I beat Skull, as he's barely ever around to read these things.
I honestly don't think I've ever fought Madelf... weird, I must have but don't remember it.
I lose to 762 EVERY FRICKIN TIME! I'm going to beat him on WCH if it kills me.
Don't think I've ever beaten DH either, but he's usually ina much bigger ship than I am so we'll
have to see.
Actually come to think of it I believe I have a winless record against J'inn as well....

Nice sig, chuut. But you know, in that battle, I went to go make a sandwich? You shoulda seen the way I left Madelf last night, lol, while I went out to get a drink from the fridge. Or did I go to the bathroom? I forget. But he was cloaked with a HDW and a BC hovering over him in GSA, ha! But we still won. We are unbeatable.

Actually we both do.

But it doesn't bother me to admit it, as the Fed in me is only undigested Feddie Fingers and the Fed in you is much more prominent

Hmmm, 227 internals to 31 in C10k versus DNH :P

(Looks for yard Stick)

C10K isn't in the same league as the F-DNH.  I thought we weresupposed to be getting a "play-tested balanced" c10k?  The extra AMD is cute, but really the poor phaser arcs, the 2 less power make it a vastly inferior ship.  It's very akin to using a D7W to kill a BCJ.  Now, granted it can be done, and I've been forced into that match in GZ alot (feds LOVE their DNH, for good reason).  But it's still extremely difficult.  The problem I have with ranking pilots in order in the D2 is that I've almost never fought someone with equal equipment.  I mean, how long has it been since I've fought anyone BCH v BCH?  I think that goes all the way back to EAW, on AOTK maybe?

1- MadElf: you know.. I haven't fought you enough. But I know you're up there. ;)
2- DH: I think I've gotten your routine down, but I still enjoy our fights. ;)
3- Corbomite: dude. SS2. You gave me a hard time, you're up here.
4- 762 and Bear, especially as a pair: Hydran wannabees.. GRRR.
5- .. err.. gotta go back to work. to be continued! :)

Well Lets find out who the best pilot is. Why dont we have another tournament on GSA. With matches like we had in the past. Lets restrict it too only the D2 players. (no Offense to the GZers)  What do u people say?  Anyone up for doing this.  I predict I will die in round 1 (Unless we use a map filled with Asteroid then I will be champ)

Unless i fight hexx because last time I slammed him into a rock, i myself slammed into one right after he died. DOH!!! Boy that was funny.

Oh come on, we all exgagerate a little but I think even Dogmatix would choke on his own BS if he said something like that.   ;D

Who gave you that thought?  No testing was done, I just chucked and extra AMD on the ship because it obviously needs it compared to the Heavy DNs of the Federation and Mirak.

Who'd thunk that Star-castling was the root of all evil . . .

I do all all the time in training.  The DNH is a better ship, but the C10K is not "vastly" inferior?  Though you and I do agree about those phaser arcs, remind to tweak that for SGO4.

EDIT:   Tweaked phaser arcs Tweaked, she can fire 9 on a broadside now, which is the same as an F-DNH.

Booster-seats and a sippy-cup hollder?  ;D

But Hexx's point is valid, improving anything usually leads stright to hell.
