LB3 was definetely EAW, we started it using SQL and had a problem that turned out to be an incorrect gf file setting that caused the server to crash at the first game year. It was Fluf's fault, lol.

IDSL came before AOTK IIRC
Herr Burts 4 power war came right after IDSL but before AOTK
cw 7.xx's came after AOTK and Day of the Eagle came in there somewhere as well, but before Sg3
Lb4 was full OOB ROM/Klink VS Gorn/Fed

LB5 was mixed SFC2/3
Somewhere north of the Azores.

There was a Rook's Tavern III, one of the earlier OP servers.  Was a great concept, but blown up because of the Cartel Layer issues (hex needed to be owned by allied pirates before the empire could raise it's DV...) in the early OP server-kits.

LB4 was an OP affair, as WillWeasel points out.  LB5 was a combined-effort D2 / D3 game, where Fluf had the D2 guys try out the DIP shiplist...

Yes, the RT3 setup was wonderful.  it would be great to see that with a functional OP D2 and a "modern' setup.

Nice compilation update in the first post Wanderer

I seem to recall some servers being run by a group called TAG as well.

Thanks for the kudos, TG. :)

Chuut, that is definately helpful, thanks.  Although I'm wondering now if trying to get everything in the order run is feasible.  I'm thinking that putting the list together by who ran them is more practicable.

At any rate, gonna be out of town down in Sac 'til the weekend, taking a short break from my caretaking duties (I can smell the 'nip, baby! heheh).  Hopefully I'll get some computer time while there and continue updating this thread, but the sigs I'm working on will have to wait a bit, since I'll be away from my Adobe.  Sorry about that, but I'll get right on them when I get back.

BTW AF is Artic Fire not sure if it was cw 1 or not.

Articfire was first and was NOT CW1.

BBJones started Canada West because of his anger over the shiploss bug in the 2.0.0.6 build version of EAW.
He set CW1 and CW2 (Which were both before the 2.0.0.7g patch that fixed shiploss) to give you your same ship back if destroyed.  See, way back then, if someone alted, pressed escape and forfeit (yes, they initially allowed you to press escape and forfeit just like single play !), or crashed, the server would think you died, and take your ship.  When you logged back in, you were placed in a replacement ship.   BIG BUMMER.  Some liked the "No shiploss" solution, some hated it, but it was a work around for the times.....

CW1 Started shortly before Articfire's server crashed and burned.  When it ended, Rogue Jedi's started.  When RJ's ended, CW2 started.  During this time, servers like Klinzai and University of Oregon were also up and running, as there were enough players to need more then just one campaign....

Rogue Jedi_XC had a few servers thrown in there shortly after the Articfire was over. I remember the F1AF guys and the Mirak and me all getting into a buncha flame wars then... Gosh those were the days. ;) What were they called?

Well, prettied up the top post a bit.

Anyone remember where the Fed vs Klink server came in and if it had a name?  I'm also trying to remember if the Vanilla server was one of the CW 5.x's.

Thanks to all who have posted so far, it's been very helpful.  Keep it coming!

I seem to Remember that when EAW first came out Blyre had a Server set up at his University. It wasn't a Major campaign, But It did Provide us to Get in at first.

Yes, the RT3 setup was wonderful.  it would be great to see that with a functional OP D2 and a "modern' setup.

All the maps, including the separate race moderator starting maps are all available should someone want to do a redo. I even have the complete website, just needs a host.

The rules probably could use some adjustment and it would be great to have a model and shiplist for it, but at least the maps are available.

Should anyone like to do a redo sometime in the future, contact me. I'm pretty sure the rest of the original design team wouldn't mind, though I can't speak for them I'm still in contact with them. Emerald of course, is still around, the rest are currently active in EVE.

In other words, I think it's very doable. I'd just feel an obligation to make sure they were cool with it before reusing their previous work.

Was this the University of Oregon server, or was that seperate?

And I'm still trying to remember where the Klink vs Fed server fits...I'm pretty sure it was a CW/SFC2.net server, and one of the 5.x's, but I'd like confirmation from another source.  In leiu of a name at this time, I'll just call it Border War.

So, do we have most everything covered?

I don't remember the name of the guy who ran the UofO server, I should but I don't.   I pm'd him a couple of times but never got together, although it would have been easy enough since I'm in Eugene (we could have had a couple of the guys from Portland come down had a bash I guess).   I don't think it was Blyre though.

As far as RT3 goes, it was a lot of fun, maybe we could do it again (I think Cas is getting more interested in running a server again).   It was sure fun flying in the GW with everyone again (too bad the holiday's cut my playing time in the last week to nearly zero).  Man, there were sure some good times in the past, better than I've ever had playing any other game.  No contest.

I will neither confirm or deny this rumor. :-X

Btw ... Badlands was also a server I hosted for a very long time. Not only did it run longer than Empires, it had a few campaigns tied to it when not set as a "persistant" server.

I remember this one.  I don't think it had a real name, just CW5.x Fun Server.  It was just a big square with the Fed/Klink border running down a diagonal.  It was the first server in which I flew as a Fed, and the first server where I used USS Mighty Photon as a ship name.  ;)

I'm trying to remember. I think he was in Iowa at the time. I'll give him a call later and try to find out.
