Looking for a few Volunteers
« on: December 02, 2004, 06:30:54 pm »
I need (well actually I'd like) a few volunteers to bounce a server idea off of. (KCW? Yes yes it's coming, just got distracted when watching TV)
Preferably people with experinece running servers and more importantly, experince with picking out problems servers are going to have.

I assume finding people to tell me my ideas are stupid won't be an issue, but I'm looking for a few who can go into " Your ideas are stupid because..."

Always up for ideas.  Don't have any knowledge of how the tech stuff works but can offer up out of the box ideas and a viewpoint from playerside.

Basically, happy to help out.

Well, fire away.  (Either in here or in a PM.)  I've run a few and I'll answer as best I can.

Yeah sorry about that Chuut..

I've pm'd you the "dumbed down" version you asked for, let me know if it's still to compliacated for you...

_Thx for the response btw, I assume it's the same thing Scippy will say, some times I'm just so overwhelmed by my own natural brilliance I
forget about how much it moves me away from the basic concept.

I've read your idea, and I think it's brilliant.  I have no doubt that it will be the best server any of us have ever seen.  You will go down in history as the best admin ever.

Unfortunately, the idea has two bugs in it that will crash the server kit.  But don't worry, I know how to fix them.  I'll tell you how to make it all work.............. right after KCW concludes.

;)

(Just kidding.  I got the PM.  I'll give it a read tonight and get back to you.)

New reply sent Hexx with some further discussion of your ideas and some new ones for your consideration.  I do like that Die Hard freighter rule very much, definately keep that one as well as the Kroma/Likkerpig penalty box for captains losing VC ships.

Read and considering your points Chuut , & yours as well Scip, (of course you'd take a different view than Chuut <sigh>)
Anyway think I'll have to have everyone sign a waiver at the start, that penalty box is a scary place.
Fortunately i know DH won't mind the freighetr, kept saying on TS that if the Klingons ddin't learn how to fly their ships
he wouldn't need the DNH to take them out, freighter would do him just fine.

I'll work on the idea at work today, and have more stuff tonight.

Thanks again.

Sippy and I haven't agreed on much in 31 years of friendship, why start now.  Luckily when things go sour we both know to point the finger at Agave, preferably the middle one..... ;D

Hexx, get on MSN dammit I'm drunk and ready to talk you out of any S'Cipio nonesense.
