Server ends on schedule my ass. Turn it off Thanksgiving day. Move the final build to Friday. Extend the server to Sunday because of Thanksgiving. As a result: MORE people will be able to play, server downtime on thursday due to a crash and no admin will be a non-issue, we can all get a momentary f*cking reprieve from nerve wracking black hole sucking dyna whoring and spend some time quietly refreshing our nerves reading a book, buying a ho for the night or spending time with family and friends like most of us will be doing.

I think it will make all parties happy.

No it won't.

In the Federation you will find this regarding the Dyna...

"Democracy: de·moc·ra·cy

1. Government by the people, exercised either directly or through elected representatives.
2. A political or social unit that has such a government.
3. The common people, considered as the primary source of political power.
4. Majority rule.
5. The principles of social equality and respect for the individual within a community."

What a quaint notion. It is madness to believe that the great unwashed masses could possibly know what is best. Madness. Why, most of them must wear slip-ons or velcro just to keep shoes on their feet. The thought of them actually deciding anything important is terrifying.

Every Romulan knows that Dyna democracy should be defined as follows...

demo: barely tested and likely to fail regularly, if infrequently
cracy: insane

The one upside that Dyna democracy has going for it? The great unwashed masses generally prefer it to mowing the lawn or shoveling snow.

(ooc: I am perfectly content with how things have been, have no complaints, appreciate all the time and effort given by those responsible for bringing this server to us and am just glad to have had the chance to play and chat with friends irrespective of when it ends.)

We've lost 4 hours out of 216 so far.  that is less than 2 percent downtime thank you very much  ;D

Pretty damn good stats.  We've had servers that lose an entire day (or days).  Damn good job.

I agree w/ the lost PP due to coming out of a mission only to find a lost connection.  But that issue applies across the board to all players.  Let the server end as scheduled (barring catastrophy).  Think of it like this DH ... if the server sucked you'd be hearing a lot of players hoping the damn thing ended early.  It doesn't suck and a lot of people are enjoying the game and want to keep playing ... which is a good thing.  But the GWs were suppose to be a 2-week campaign.  Looking forward to GW5.

I know, we just find it amusing that people think they have any say in the matter.   ;D

D2 Crackwhores, you will not be left hanging.   We have a couple of ideas that will be up shortly after GW4 is over.  2 week Hiatus tops.

Next thing I'm doing is "War Cruiser Hell."  SFBish setup with no ship with more than a 2/3 move cost.   Fun server with lots of killing, maiming, and pillaging.   Thinking REALLY cheeap ships with a "no running with equal numbers" rule.

Sort of vannilla, but all specialty ships of a DD hull or smaller will be available for all.

I agree, more time the better. For what its worth I'll not stop playing it. I think the idea is to enjoy it. Sure a little extra time might cause someone to be killed, but thats the beauty of it all.  ;D

So when exactly is GW4 over? (sorry if I missed it.) I'd like to run a MySQL stress test the following day or immediately after it comes down...

If you had kept it down like I wanted on TG day and run it thru Sunday night, all 3x of your DN's and that BCV would still be alive. <Snicker>

Saturday night at midnight Eastern.

Oh, crap.  I thought it was to end on Sunday.

I just KNEW I should have told the family to "get the hell out" last night.  I've less time left than I thought.

Saturday night at midnight Eastern.

Thanks, I'll look at starting the SQL test immediately after, or on Sunday afternoon.
