U.S.S. Erichtho - Warlock Class
« on: November 20, 2004, 01:23:48 am »
This is the Constitution inspired sister ship of the Sorcerer class XCA. The engines are based on one of my first editions of the Valiant, though I've obviously made newer more detailed versions. It also incorporates the rail-phasers and sub-systems that the Sorcerer is known for.

Those moving phaser hardpoints, er 'softpoints' are the coolest thing. ;)

That ship is a smooth operator, WZ. wtg.

Man, that is really nice. Logical design, as well, as it hints at what's to come in the TNG era.

As always, excellent work.  The gracefulness of the design is what really makes this ship great.

I love the design ..  and the textures..

Just one question ..  should the impulse engines be larger? ...  ( just asking bud !)

I would think an XCF would need large impulse engines....as it is fast...lol

Smooth looking!  Imagine in Star Trek if Starfleet really had ships like you guys design.  The Federation would be in all four quadrants!

The impulse engines are the same size as the Connie's, plus the fact that it has two separate ones as opposed to the Connie's center set. Impulse engines have never been big on Fed ships for the majority. The Defiant, for example, has engines the size of torpedo launchers and it zips around like a flea on steroids. Smaller engines could just show that they're more efficient - bigger doesn't always mean better.

As for the name, Erichtho was a witch/fortune teller from Thessaly who observed the war between Caesar and Pompey. Or at least, that's my understanding of it...

Very nice mixture of a lot of elements that can be seen on other ships, I like the thicker dorsal which I think is from your Bellicose/Lethality and also the rounded off rear secondary hull that is a bit similar to the Ulysses, not too keen on the  shuttlebay design itself, it looks a bit like an atherthoughtand doesn't really flow with the rest of the design of the ship. Maybe if the rounded doors were cut away - just a flat set of doors in a cut-out? Whatever I'm sure you're happy with the design of your own ships so I'll stop ranting and get break out the model editor for my own private version.

Nice choice of name BTW, though isn't Pompei spelt with an 'i', not a 'y'?

Depends on the subject. Pompey was a person and Pompeii is the city. ;)

Hi WZ
Very nice work and great design to boot. I was wondering what was going on you hadn't posted is a little while and now I see that you've done another great piece of work.  Are you still planning on doing your own rendition of the Belknap class?  I know that you were interested in getting reference material. Just wondering if you decided one way or the other. Keep up the great work and thanks alot for sharing your vision and talent with us.

Darn you, WZ... You keep screwing up my Federation ship assignments. It would be so much easier if this model sucked, but noooooo, ya just had to make it to be essential to figure out a way to make a place for it. Quit doing that!

Now for the more realistic and relevent reply. Mighty fine work on this model. Gotta be one of your best Fed's, ever.
