My Retirement
« on: November 18, 2004, 03:26:19 pm »
I think my avatar expresses it all.  I have decided to retire from this game.

I'm not mad at anybody, I've just decided to move on.  I have some RL issues that have forced me to cut down on playing time.  I've also made a tough decision about my spare time.  As I look at my available recreation time, I've decided to once again take up tournament chess.  I used to be respectable at that, and I'm going to join a local chess club, and  start going to tournaments when I can.

I may play on GW4 during the Thanksgiving weekend.  If I do, this is probably gonna be your last chance to take a shot at me, or fly with me, depending on your own situation.

I wil be lurking in the forums at times.  I thank all of the members of this community for several great years of satisfying game play.  I have enjoyed the triumphs, defeats, fussing and making up, and the comradeship I have experienced in StarLance, GamerZ, and most of all, my beloved Dynaverse.

To my KBF Bretheren:  You are all the greatest!  I could go on and on, but I will always cherish and relish the fellowship I have experienced with you.  All the best, my Brothers!

To my KHH Brethren:  You gave me a place at your table, and I am grateful.  i always tried to serve you well.

To the people I have blowed up:  Sorry, it was just business.  Well, for a few of you, it was personal, but mostly just doing my job.

To the people that blowed me up:  Grrrrrrrrr..........

To the members of the House of Zakath, the House of Martok, and especially the Ministry of Kahless (If you are still around) thanks for the good times!

To the people who give selflessly of their talents and time  on servers, and do the massive amount of work  that keeps the Dynaverse alive: Your efforts were and are appreciated, even when we were griping.  The Dynaverse would have died a long time ago if you had not stepped up and done the amazing things you do.

To my many, many friends in this community:  Farewell.  I hope you find the pleasure you seek in this great game.

To Kytarh:  Yeah, I feel like you do a lot.  Never, ever change.

To Fleet Admiral Patterson and Fleet Admiral Lister:  Sorry we never got around to that GWAR thing.  I would have whipped your butts.

To the Smarty-Pants Snoops that thought I was ShadowSix:  OK, yes, you were right.  I had my reasons.  I thought it would have been fun.  I had a blast creating the personna, and laying the clues.  Only Fleet Admirals Patterson and Lister would have been able to unravel the clues in my sig, if they had seen them. The rest of you..well, you were just guessing.  Did you expect me to confess?

Fondest Regards:

Zeppa, good luck with whatever you do. There are a lot of things more deserving of one's time than this game.  ;D

Whatever you wind up doing, be sure to K1CK @SS!!!

Oh yeah, and it would also be cool to have one last D2 hurrah on thanksgiving weekend - assuming the server will be up.  8)

Well look at all the sickening sweet farewell notes. ( Spits in Disgust )

For over a year, you have said to me.. come join the KBF Kytarh, We need old dedicated Warriors like you in the KBF  Kytarh, you really belong in the KBF Kytarh.

Well I finally joined you and now you RETIRE!  :cuss:

I would post more here but they would just delete it, there would be way to much swearing and threats to remove certain body parts with my D'Ktagh. The dagger, not the ship.

Although a straffing run with my C7 over your house on Qo nos' is a thought.

In the last few days, I went looking around the web for links to Oklahoma chess.  I was actually a member of the Policy Board of the Oklahoma Chess Association in the late '80's.  The Oklahoma Chess Association was a calm, sleepy organization that served as a clearinghouse for chess tournaments, published a quarterly journal, ran a postal chess league, and did the housekeeping tasks for Oklahoma Chess.

I now find that about a year ago, there was a massive upheaval in Oklahoma chess.  The organization split, and there were all sorts of accusations of dirty dealings, and scandal.  The two competing organizations hurl bile at each other on a regular basis, and many longtime players are not on speaking terms with some players on the other side.

Well, at least I'll be on familiar ground.   I almost feel at home. ;)

I (likely among many) will be hoping that the attachments you have here will keep you involved on some level, even if it is just here on these forums. If so, wonderful. If not, take care and know that you have my respect for your good sportsmanship.
