Why is it that everytime a male gets a cold, all of a sudden, they are all DIEING!! You want to know what pain is?? Try giving birth, LOL.
I understand that is the worst there is. (It makes the biblical tale ring true...) BUT, I'd have to say multiple abscessed molars has to rank up there with childbirth. I recently had such pain and before a root canal (or extractions for previous cases) I was in insane pain for days at a time. Huge codeine overdoses would not even touch it (up to 1/4 gram every four hours), I was tempted to go to the emergency room for a shot of Demerol but could not get off the floor or stop crying like a little girl to do it. I just smoked up all my "nip" instead to take my head out of my body. Once my head swelled up like a football, the pain seemed to ease and I went back to work, but people looked at me funny... Anyhoo, as far a pain rankings go:
1) Natural Childbirth (as I'm told) - can last up to 24 hours and potentially lethal.
2) Tooth pain (I know first hand) - can last indefinitely and is also potentially lethal.
3) Burns (also I know first hand) - very intense but usually only initally lasts until shock sets in, then the pain returns when healing begins. Only the most severe burns are potentially lethal.
There is more than one type of pain of course and chronic pain sufferers (various causes) probably have it the worst, as it it usually non-lethal and just never goes away.
