Technical Difficulties
« on: November 15, 2004, 10:29:35 am »
Got technical problems AGAIN.  CPU is overheating (rose from 22C to 49C within 60 seconds during diagnostic), so to prevent the same level of distaster as earlier in the year, production is temporarily suspended for the next few days...  Engineer due with replacement parts on Wednesday - hopefully get it sorted then.

PS - I just don't seem to be having much luck with this computer.  :'(

looks normal to me... my processor runs at 35 idle, peaks at about 50-55 C.

Aye - but that's highest I get to see before it shuts itself down spontaneously.  Definitely not normal.

This probaly wont be any help but I had a scare just last night. My machine froze up, tried to reboot but it wouldnt even POST nor display anything. I tested vid card in another machine worked ok I was stumped until I saw massive dust bunny infestation in my CPU heatsink. I cleaned that off but it wasnt until I actually unplugged and plugged back in the machine that it would boot. I guess that the MB needed to be reset as it always has a diode lit up even when turned off at the switch, maybe its a safety feature.

actually StormBringer and I was talking about the same Problems last week. We both had the Same Problem. One on his Machine, and me on Both of mine. With us, we had to unplug the PC, and Turn off the Switch in the back, before It would Post.

Oddly, the PC I'm on just now had the very same problem this morning . . . seemed to resolve by itself within the hour though.

a spike like that is not unusual.  as soon as a pc goes underload, the processor tends to heat up quick (i have a p4 so it gets real hot real fast...).  personally i wouldn't worry about it unless your computer starts rebooting randomly (in which case a larger heatsink and fan would fix it up real quick..)
