(freeware) 'Star Trek: Invasion of Cardassia
« on: November 07, 2004, 02:06:12 pm »
INVASION OF CARDASSIA is a mod for the freeware game, STAR WARS: THE BATTLE OF ENDOR 2.1.

Installing this mod basically turns the Star Wars game into a Star Trek: Deep Space Nine game. So before you can play this mod, you need to download the real, original game first! The website for Bruno R. Marcos, the author of Battle of Endor, is located at:

http://www.bruneras.com/

If that website is down for whatever reason, you can also go to:
http://www.theforce.net/games/apps/boendor/index.shtml

you can get the ST mod here (there's some screenshot of it in the link): http://webhome.idirect.com/~tomyee/

this is one of the best Freeware TC games you can get! It's a LOT like Klingon Academy, except instead of using the cursor keys, you use the mouse to move the ship!

You wil need to install 'STAR WARS: THE BATTLE OF ENDOR 2.1' first, and then install the ST mod in the same folder to change the SW ships into ST ships!

enjoy!

They look like a variety of old SFC1/2 ships from back when KA was still a viable game engine. That Miranda looks very much like P81's early version (pre-D2 mod).

Well,  it may be free as far as money, but there is the time  spent  to download, install,  upgrade the game  for startrek weapons and ships..ect. So really  time is the price and if it sucks...

Besides the point Starforce. The bottom line is you dont' pay money for it, so people shouldn't whinge about it. Either that or learn to mod the game themselves. Then they can put in what they want.

People shouldn't gripe.

1)Its Free.
2)Its star trek, and as long as its free. Paramount* doesn't own it.
3)By applauding a Game. Even if it looks crappy, will encourage game developers in the future to make better games.
4)Instead of griping, maybe the experts can design the game to look "good."

Sounds good!! How stringent are the sys requirements? Do you think I could eek through it on my 0.9 gigger? I am contemplating a trip to the comp lab with my memory stick, if it will run.

"3D Graphics card." I'm not kidding, that's it. Full requirements here:

# DirectX 8.1
# 1.4 Ghz and higher processors (you can experience lower framerates on slower processors)
# 3D Graphics Card
# Windows 98, ME, 2000 or XP

I think considering the game is FREEWARE people shouldn't moan about the quality of things.

Well, it may be free as far as money, but there is the time spent to download, install, upgrade the game for startrek weapons and ships..ect. So really time is the price and if it sucks...

I was not groaning about the poor graphics. Poor graphics are almost something I look forward too--I'm a huge abandonware player.. I'm glad he was able to put it together. I'd just be happy to see him optomize his code somewhat. I'd love to play it, but I can't. I don't have enough processor power. That's what bugs me really. I should have been more clear.

Take care,
