The Lexington Project (tennative name; adding details)
« on: November 06, 2004, 08:29:15 pm »
Okay, i have a few designs rolling around in the back of my head for this...but i would like your input as well.

requirements
1) Non-Trek...this takes place in my own universe.
2) Double-Hulled...much like the Stock GCA
3) "Ring" or "Bracket" FTL 'Jumpdrive'
4) Conning Tower
5) at least 3KM long...its going to be a city in space.

Im going to post my own design soon, but id be happy to see a few other people's designs...they dont have to be flashy, a 20 minute drawing in MS paint would work, lol.

okay, this is where im drawing inspiration from...this little tiny image from a Total Annihilation mod

but again, it needs either the ring or bracket added for the FTL system.

Futher Inspiration

Of course the pair of these are far too small to serve as a mobile space-city, but the basic shape is right..though the "arms" should be a lot bigger.

I know of a good design.  The TCS Midway from Wing Commander Prophecy.  I can do some editing of the model in Optech to see what design I can come up with for adding the bracket FTL engines.  I can use a variety of TIE wings for that, post a few shots.  For an example are two shots.  One from above (the center ship) and one from the side (behind the Panther class medium fighter).
BTW, the fighters from the Wing Commander game series are the coolest anywhere.  In my opinion anyway.

This was a design i made from legos when i was 6 and have kept around since, just modelled it now. If anyone could refine this design, i would greatly appreciate it.

One more today.

I dont think this one really imparts the sense of scale that i want, however that may change with textures.

What's wrong with the TCS Midway?  Too flat?  Too wide?

it looks too small.
I mean its a neat design, but it doesnt look heroic enough, so to speak.
