So do you want KCW?
« on: November 01, 2004, 08:11:01 pm »
OK Since Im having oh so much fun reading about this here goes.
I will volunteer to admin KCW. I can't actually play <much if at all> for awhile, but I can admin no problem.
I will take the results of this poll as of Midnight Tuesday .
(assuming I can find someone to provide the technical know how)
The rules will be *based* on those already publisehed, with a few modifications.
As usual I'm kinda an arrogant, conceited prick (can I say prick here or will it get banned?... hmmm)
If I do run it, there will be no compromises and you will not be asked what you think a Klingon Civil War would
or should involve- I don't care.

Assuming we actually have a shiplist and missions that work (do we?) and someone can do the techie stuff it can go this weekend.
If not the following one.

Of course if one of the professional admin guys actually has a server ready to go, or wants to run this I'm more than willing to le them.  ;D

Does this mean that I would need a new exec?

I'm wondering about how the teams will fair though.   There has been a lot of time and confusion about this, are the same players that signed up for the draft still interested in playing?

Most assuredly no. The house leaders and the player base have lost all momentum going into the server. The whole process, imo, will have to start over.

I'm kind of in agreement with that.  I would think that anyone who is wishing to do a KCW server should start from the beginning, get all the rules and admin commitments solid and done before they go to the next step, then get house leaders, and do the draft again.  Have the draft rules set before you go into the draft, and then go ahead with that, and on down the line.  It may take a little more time, but I think it would pay out in the end.   I really want to play this campaign, but I want it to be done well, and not in a slapdash fashion (I'll probably play either way though. ;) )

Hmm coulda sworn there was some way to tell who were the two meanies.. but I'm assuming they'll just tell me sooo.

Since no one else has volunteered to run KCW I will.
HOWEVER since J'inn and his biatches have got GW4 ready to go in a week and a half that will go first.
( I still don't have a commitment form anyone to host)

Rules will largley be the same but..

There will be a new sign up for draft.
There will be no trading
After the initial draft is done players may sign uo whatver house they want. BUT
the primo ships will be assigned at the start of the server. If you miss the draft you don't get one
Challenges will be largely the same, but to challenge a leader/ XO you must have at least 3 (or 4 haven't deicded yet)
more PVP wins than losses. If two people both challenge the house leader /Xo the one with the better PVP ratio is the only one who's challenge has to be accepted.
Drone ships will likely be restricted , fighters might be restricted.
The above will not apply to J'inn or DH.
In gratitude of the glorious ships they gave my LDR to fly on GW2 they may both have an E4D for the whole server.
Whichever house leader comes up with the funniest/ best way to screw J'inn over for the server gets lots of bonus goodies.

After the initial draft is done players may sign uo whatver house they want.

This will definitely cause issues, and serious imbalances. A better solution would be to assign them randomly after the initial draft as they come in.

Hey it's your server. Do as you see fit, but you might as well not have a draft at all with that loophole.

What are these pants that you speak of BTW?

Yeah, it does kind of beg for people to just not sign up for the draft and sign up for the house they want when the thing goes live, imo.

Well since you wear some pantaloons I gues I can answer.
(none of this is written in stone yet btw,... although I've probably written some of it while stone... anyway)
HOLY CRAP I HAVE A NEW MESSAGE!
err back to the question.
What Im tentaively thinking of doing is starting everyone in a FDW/ FD7K or something like. NAd not having any * big ship production during the server. If you sign up after the server starts, you gets a D5L or something, maybe an F5.
Bigger ships will be available btw, but not from production per se.

Will it encourage people to sign up? I dunno.
The only thing I'm adamant on is that the draft needs to be redone, and we need a third house leader .

Yeah, I'm not sure if that would really help people sign up, as almost everyone here is an old timer and would be out of there starting ship in fairly short order anyway, no matter what it is (especially if they are working in conjunction with their fleetmates), but if you're hosting, it's your decision. :D

I guess we should have a nomination period for the new house leaders then?    Should we get that going as soon as possible, or wait until a little closer to going live?

J'inn says GW4 will go Nov 14th ish.
Not sure who else has a campaign ready to go, soon as I have a target date that no one else is looking at I'll
get everything started.
