Ok you are makeing a superhero movie
« on: March 17, 2005, 07:56:18 pm »
Stephen  and I were talking about who could play the lead role in Dark Night returns( batman comeing back when he 50 or 60 years old). So who would you get to play him? And others in the film. Or any superhero flim. If you were in charge.

Oddly enough, I would make "Dark Knight Returns" with Michael Keaton.  I still think he's the only actor so far who's nailed both Batman and Bruce Wayne, particularly in "Batman Returns."  (Overall, that film was inferior to its predecessor, but I think Keaton was better in it.)  Val Kilmer did a good Batman, and George Clooney was good as Bruce Wayne, but neither had the whole package, IMO.

Who knows, maybe if "Sin City" has a decent box-office showing, Frank Miller might be able to get "Dark Knight Returns" made...  ;)

Good points Capt. Pierce. along time ago, it was rumored that they where trying to get Clint eastwood to play Bruce/Bats , But I think he's way too old now.

Hmm. Harrison Ford is getting up there in age, I could possibly see him doing It. and yes, I have always liked Millers work. It'll be fun to see three seperate Sin City stories Interwoven for this new movie.

Stephen

PS. Sean Connery might work also, hadn't thought of that. Maybe Michael Cain, Robert Duvall, or Micky Rourke?

Actually, though people pan the movie, I thought George Clooney made the best Batman.  Keatan didn't really play the Playboy portion of Batman all that well.  Clooney had that relaxed feel as Bruce Wayne, yet the Batman feel of Batman.  Unfortunately some stupid script writing and terrible Special Effects made the movie he played Batman in a box office drop instead of a winner.

Truthfully though, I think if he didn't have the accent I'd choose Sean Connery, but since he has an accent, Harrison Ford is greying in just the right areas and though quite a bit younger than Connery, could still fit the bill...that I think Harrison Ford could make a nice Batman in that.

Harrison Ford's an interesting choice, hadn't thought of him.  :)

I'm not a big fan of the "playboy" side of Bruce Wayne; personally, it never made much sense to me.  I thought Keaton's (and presumably Burton's) take on the character not being a lot of fun even when he wasn't in costume was a little more "realistic."

Now, that said, an interesting take on the character would be to make him essentially schizophrenic, to the point where Wayne and Batman are almost separate personalities.  Miller even hinted at that a little in "DKR," I think, or maybe I'm just imagining it.  I've also thought that, at some point, it might be easier to just actually have two different actors in a Batman film, one to only be Batman and the other only to be Bruce Wayne, but that would be some tricky casting...  ;)

This one might be unpopular but I think that he could do it.  He is just turning 50, has done action movies and is often portrayed as having had a jetset lifestyle.  Personally I don't like most of his movies but this role I think he could do.

a slight Tangent here... It appears that Wheadon is also making a wonder women movie. Most of the actresses have been named on another COH thread on there boards, but It hit me, after getting julia Strain and Angolina Julie off my mind, that Rachel McLish might be the best choice. http://www.legendaryfitness.com/rachel_mclish.htm  Who would you peeps cast for the role?

Or maybe Robin Williams?

Wonder Woman is a tough one, I don't think I've seen any name linked to the project yet who I think would be good; and off the top of my head, I'm not coming up with anybody.   :-\
