SFC2 CD Key Number
« on: February 08, 2005, 05:35:30 pm »
Hi
I can not insert the CD Key number when installing SFC2 under windows XP. The keyboard won't respond. Do I need a patch or something to make it work?

Thanks

look where your game is install and use the other icon, use the StarFleetOP not the sfcop icon, its like a small bug in the system, after that you will be able to enter you cd key number.

You will need to patch up to either 2036 for Empires at War or 2552 for Orion Pirates use the desktop shortcut or simply when then the intro starts press escape.I hope this helps.

You can find the patches at www.dynaverse.net      downloads section.

Ok.. some people leave out information about the EXE files..

for Starfleet Command II Empires at War, you need to make a desktop short cut to the Starfleet2.exe game file.. to do this, go into your Taldren\Starfleet Command II game directory and find the Starfleet2.exe game file, right click and select Copy, go to your desktop and go to an empty spot, right click, and select "Paste Shortcut"

for Orion Pirates you would do the same thing only the file is StarfleetOP.exe and it is located in Taldren Software Inc\Starfleet Command Orion Pirates

the problem with running the game off the SFC2.exe or SFCOP.exe is that these files are bugged and they will cause the keyboard to malfunction, missle loads to work incorrectly, improper reporting of mission results, etc..

that is why it is important to use the proper file to launch the game..

SFC 2 EAW has a 20 character CD Key.. you need to enter it with the dashes..

Orion Pirates has a 16 character CD key, you need to enter it with dashes..

The seller on Ebay may have sold it because he originally purchased the game that had an invalid CD Key.. This was a common problem caused by interplay and rushed orders.. they did not make sure which CD Key they put on the disks as both games were listed as SFC 2 in their systems... to resolve this, you use to be able to call Interplay and they would issue a new CD key for the appropriate game.

Hope that this helps.
