What you have there is excellent stuff.  You might contact Nanner ..  one of the things in his mod was the correct sizing as I recall.  (We talk about a lot of stuff that is not posted.)

At any rate..  ya might ask him for suggestions.

This is EXCELLENT !!  I would love to get a copy of this on a disk for safe keeping !!

Atra made a 4-nacelle study model a while ago.
Here's a pic.  I've got the model if you're interested.

someone made one in BC too,  unfortuneatly  the author has dissapeared for a very long time.

The very first image for the heavy scout in this thread is,  I believe, a:
http://bridgecommander.filefront.com/file/Tolstoy;23476

but  desperatley needs more polies and a complete overhaul of the textures, at  that rate you   might as well  make both parts so it can separate too.

We already have the Tolstoy. The question is does everyone accept that as the Rigel class or do we need another design? The two concensus' are.......

A) It might be the above pictured ship
B) It's a Galaxy like saucer( not an Ambassador) matted to a Connie hull with three Galaxy narcells.Very similar to the Niagra Class.
 Or
I was thinking the above ship with 2 more narcells added........lol a comprimise.Everyone's opinion will be most appreciated

I think a connie hull stuck to a galaxy saucer is completley absurd. If the nacelles were attached to the connie hull,  the ship  would rip  itsself   apart the minute it went to  warp because a  connie hull isn't  meant  to take stress like that.

This is the Niagra we'll be shooting for.........
http://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/schematics/niagara-official.jpg
And I know ,we have it already.Based on this comparison
http://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/articles/wolf359/niagara_comp.jpg
The screen cap of BbBW is on the left and a great rendition of the ship on the right.

From MIke Okuda himself.......
Rigel: I don't think we ever came up with a ship design specifically tied to that name. (I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm not remembering correctly. I don't have my notes here at the moment).

SO F_W and I put it to ya,what should the Rigel look like ?

Yep lets get the old creative jucies flowing do we stick with the Tolstoy that is pictured all the way at the top of the thread with major retexturing or a new model.
We NEED ideas people :P so any ideas no matter how silly or strange tell us

I think it should be a new model of the tolstoy up top, even if you don't  use it for a rigel. it's too awsome   of a ship to simply let pass.

Just to say that the official schematic from the Fact Files looks nothing like the actual ship which actually looks like this:

http://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/articles/wolf359/niagara-top-side.jpg

- the two are next to each other on the same page, basically either the artist was lazy or he didn't know about the pics of Jein holding the bloody thing on this page:

http://www.ex-astris-scientia.org/articles/niagara.htm

most likely both. BTW where in the frick can I get that Excelsior study by Atra? I medically need to posses that model ;D

For the Tolstoy I would say just make up a design you want, whatever you feel like - there's no official Tolstoy class beyond the name, the description from the slideshow actually turned out to be the Niagara. Think about it - galaxy looking saucer, three galaxy nacelles, stuck to a vat shaped secondary hull (only two canon Fed ships with such a hull - Constitution Refit and Ambassador) no neck, it all matches up exactly to the Niagara.

Oh this sounds interesting. By the way there is a Tolstoy out there if you need it. By SBloyd I believe. Though  I am not sure if his site is still active.
