Karma karma karma karma karma chameleon
« on: October 20, 2004, 04:50:41 pm »
Hey guys,

Just curious.

From where does karma flow?  I remember Battleclinic and how it worked there.  Does it work the same here?

I see that some miscreants have given me a negative karma rating.

That's all the jealous can do, I suppose.

How do I "praise" and "smite" others, as far as karma is concerned.

Cheers.

You have to Have a Higher Post count first. I believe it's 100.

Hey Sirgod,

Nice to see you.

Why is it that you got to carry your Taldren Post Count with you, but I didn't?

It's gonna take me donkey's ages to get to the point that I can praise or smite.

Somehow I suspect this is contrived.

Yeah Death Merchant was correct. I had forgotten the appropriate post count number.

And just what is karma? By that I mean what criteria do you all use for giving positive or negative karma?

Some give out karma almost randomly, and others don't give it out at all.  It depends on what floats your boat.

Negative karma is supposed to be issued when you find someone's post in poor taste, or simply disagree with it. Conversely positive karma is given to good posts.

Consistently handing out negative karma to the same person or people for no other reason than you dislike them is personal, and against the spirit of the rules of the rules of this forum. It is intended as a reward or punishment, if you will, for good or bad posts, not as a personal attack against someone.

hey hi, I have posted well over the 50 minimum, and still have no idea how or where or anything to do with Karma as to who has given me positive or negative Karma.  I have noticed a couple posts that stated to give me +Karma, but now I have a negative and have no idea why.  I also have no idea how to give someone who deserves a +, or even a -.  What am I to do for that?

The little buttons under someone's karma rating that say 'engage' and 'belay that' are what you use to give that person good and bad karma, respectively. And the reason you don't know why you have bad karma is because people generally don't have the balls to tell you that they gave it to you, or why. ::)

Tis true, Ironicly, I think I have given out a total of 3 negative points in my Entire time here. I personally would rather Foster good Cheer by giving + Karma. Heck, I even try when a new person signs on, To make sure they get at least one Positive point Just for finding us here, and joining our happy family.

Sad, but true, Stephen. I've only given out negative karma a few times myself, and only on the off topic forum. I figure in nearly all cases, if I don't like what a person posts, I can tell them to their cyber-face just what I don't like about what they said, instead of just dealing out negative points. It's less petty, and generally more satisfying. ;D
