Can a Mac run SFC1? Don't answer just yet...
« on: October 17, 2004, 08:32:03 pm »
Yes, I'm quite aware that any version of SFC for the mac was shelved some time ago.  However, I happen to have a new iBook G4 with Virtual PC on it and running Windows 2000.  I posted this before, but though I would post again in the hopes of getting the attention of some knowledgeable Mac users in here, so here goes:

Let's say someone here, not naming names, likes macs, and let's also say that they have Virtual PC 6 installed on their handy dandy high speed low drag iBook G4 with windows 2K pro running, and let's also say that this person installed SFC1.  Well, SFC doesn't seem to want to load past the "do you want to register" part.  In other words, it doesn't seem to recognize my built in vid card as a vid card, so it won't load.  Does anyone know of a way to make this work for me?
On a side note, thus far there seems to be enough processing power, even in an emulation to run the game, but of course, I won't know forsure until i get some expert help.

If anyone has any ideas on how to make this strange combo work, please let me know.

But tell me, can you heal what father's done?
Or fix this hole in a mother's son?
Can you heal the broken worlds within?
Can you strip away so we may start again?
Tell me, can you heal what father's done?
Or cut this rope and let us run?
Just when all seems fine, and I'm pain free, you jab another pin,
Jab another pin in me

Hmmmm... wish I could help you.

Ages ago, I tried VPC6 on a G3. I got as far as installing and running the EAW demo.
No problems except for it running unacceptable slow.

I've never tried SFC1, nor do I have VPC running on any of my Macs now. Sorry.

I am switching jobs soon, and will be loading up a brand spankin' new TI powerbook. If I get VPC, I'll revisit this....

BTW: Did you JUST buy a new iBook? As in the newly announced ones?
