Hoi Folks,
I must agree with kadh2000. Parody places constraints on the writer an "original" work is not prone to. I am having quite an experience with The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner over in the D2 forums. I was thinking I could throw it together in 2 weeks, given; I know the poem well, and I have a huge lexicon at my disposal for starfleet. Well, I have thrown out so many ideas because they either ruin the flow of the poem and its progression, or they compromise the starfleet/dyna continuity. The reality of combining a complete work with an unrelated subject matter while doing honor to both is tough enough, but you are meshing much more material from many sources. Getting that juxtaposition with all the material requires being able to see the whole of the works (somebody else's work at that.) If you lose sight of the whole, the pieces will not fit resulting in writing yourself into a corner, or making a connection that readers can not follow.
You, Hstaphath, have written well. Now, me thinks you protest too much; accept the award and get back to work! We want more funny stuff! hehe
Take care

P.S. I am working on a fiction that tells the story of my dyna alter ego drb, a Hydran. When I finish the poem mentioned above I will be posting my fiction here. Why? Simple there is great talent on these boards and I am looking for honest feedback on my story telling style. I will try to get a thread going soon.
