Last Sunday morning the Sox were one game away from the one of the biggest chokes in baseball history, now it's the Yankees who are one game away from choking.  But this is no time to gloat, I've been here before.  The Sox have a unique ability to tear your heart apart only to suck you back in, and then let you down.  Wednesday night  is game 7, and I've been here before.

Regardless of what happens then, I'll always remember game 6 for the performance Curt Schilling gave.  For him to even play showed guts.  To go seven full innings and pitch so effectively was incredible.  The man has heart.

An email I received Tuesday morning:

All Boston sports teams are like women:

The Patriots are like the hot girl from the gym that you're hooking up with;
she's awesome, but almost too good to be true, so you worry.

The Bruins are like the girl that you just casually dated in College and you
don't really care about; she's just something to do when you're drunk and
lonely.

The Celtics are like your girlfriend since high school that was great at one
time but has lost its spark. And you always kinda look back and think about
how great it was.

And the Sox are like the teases you meet at a bar; they come up to you, talk
to you all night and ask you to go home with them; then you're hooking up in
her bed and she says it just doesn't feel right, she made a mistake, and she wants
you to go home.

I hope this time she asks me to stay.

Dont Worry the Bambino is watching......

 ;D

there is no curse, just shaky offence. ;)

GO SOX!!

Or perhaps the Red Sox have just sucked for 86 years...... ;D

Anyhow I must say they have heart, took guts to force a game 7, well done.  Of course the only thing better than a sweep would be another 7th game disappointment.

If it wasn't the Yankees they were playing I'd be pulling for the Sox in the ALCS as I usually do, hoping for them to lose in the series of course...... ;D

Winning the ALCS wouldn't break the curse for the Sox however as a World Series win is required, nonetheless, should they defeat the Yankees it will be a glorious day for Sox fans everywhere and a sad one for the Yankee fans who will be sending hot coco to Lucifer as his domain will have likely frozen over.

With that said lets look at a chart which sums it up nicely

P.S.  You guys really are due one though and best of luck to some of the best fans in all sports

And if things don't go the Sox way, you still got the PATS one New England team I do like...... ;D

Flash update on Game 7...

Brown loads bases with the bottom of the Sox order.  Vasquez comes on to pitch...

Damon hits second ball of night, Sox order Salami... ;)

6-0 Beantown, Top 2... :D

Edit: Damon hits his second long-ball of the Night, 8-1 Sox on their favorite offensive play, the Home Run...

Well, Pedro only got 1 inning of "work"...

Timlin works the 8th...  Looks like someone's looking at brooms after being spotted 3 games... ;)

Rules question:

When an ball is caught, don't the runner's have to go back to their base? Or does that not apply to the home plate?

I came here to ask a question.

If your base is home plate and it is caught, you were obviously the batter and thus out.

Congrats Red Sox fans, you showed a helluva lotta heart coming back from 3-0 to win the pennant!

Nice Job.

Now lets see if you can break the curse in the series.

First time I pulled for the National Leaugue in the series since 1986...... ;D

No, I mean a runner heading for home plate.

Also, yay.

And we all know who's Mariano Riviera's Daddy... :)

Without the Sox's ability to beat him, the Yankees would probably be in the world series after 4.  Not "swept" after being spotted 3 games... :D

Well, let's see if the Sox can take advantage of the cold like the Pats regularly do.  They should, it might be like putting ice on hurt bones all game... :P  Gotta love the AL All-Stars, they got Boston Home Field for this series...

Yes, the runner would have to go back to the base and tag it after the ball was caught before he can advance to the next base, home plate included.

Unbelievable.  I heard things were so bleak last Sunday scalpers were selling tickets for Sunday night's game for half of face value.  Now it's on to the World Series!

Ah, I didn't realize there was a provision where the runner could advance if the ball was caught. Odd that I've never known about this before.

I came here to ask a question.

its true of foul balls too. Say somone pops a ball foul by first base. A runner on third can (hypothetically) advance home and score a run. Tough to do? Yeah, but its possible. However one can only advance if the foul is CAUGHT.

When you have a few World Series Rings, you don't really have a Daddy....... ;D

Having "followed" the Yanks for years (gotta know what the evil ones are doing...), I've learned one thing about Steinbrenner...

It's not how many rings you have.  It's if you have this year's ring.  Nothing else matters to him...  (and if you beat Boston, but that comes with getting the WS ring...)

So, with him coming up short on the '04 ring, and the fact that they lost to the Sox annoys the boss on every count possible.  He's probably looking for a new closer, ie, one that can beat Boston now.  It doesn't help Riviera's cause that he's blown 2x as many saves to the Sox then he's blown saves against the rest of the entire league... :D
