Rivera is safe as can be as his numbers are by far the best in the game among all pitchers not only closers.  The Yankees problem all year has been a lack of starting pictures and left handed relievers.  I expect this to be addressed in the off season.

Having "followed" the Yanks for years (gotta know what the evil ones are doing...), I've learned one thing about Steinbrenner...

It's not how many rings you have.  It's if you have this year's ring.  Nothing else matters to him...  (and if you beat Boston, but that comes with getting the WS ring...)

So, with him coming up short on the '04 ring, and the fact that they lost to the Sox annoys the boss on every count possible.  He's probably looking for a new closer, ie, one that can beat Boston now.  It doesn't help Riviera's cause that he's blown 2x as many saves to the Sox then he's blown saves against the rest of the entire league... :D

You know what is really annoying Steinbrenner?  He has to pay Kevin Brown $15,000,000 for another year.  :lol:

Patriots have 21 wins in a row, including a championship.  Pats are still counting... :D

So, the Sox need at least 13 wins to start next year.  And I've read they get to start with the Yankees...

When was the last time a given city had both the reining MLB and NFL champions??? ;)
