**Special Request** and TMP Mars Previews
« on: October 08, 2004, 09:42:42 am »
Hallo peeps, gota couple of favors to ask:

First up, i have a couple of TMP-Mars style ships 99% finished (one of them was previewed in the WIP forum) but since i absolutely SUCK at registries, i was wondering if anyone was willing to change them on the warps/saucer section for me so i dont f-it up royally.

Secondly, one of the ships uses the hull and some textures from Rogue NineCH's older "Rogue" battlecruisers, so i would like to shout out for an OK for using them before i consider releasing it. All other credit goes to P-81 for parts/textures.

Some pics - looks a little dated next to the releases i've seen the past week or so, but they keep up a good framerate and have LODs for those with older machines.

First one is awesome, I may have to rip off your idea and do something similar with WZ bits, kind of half-way between a battlecruiser and a true SFB style Mars, I like the idea.

Second one, I never really liked that secondary hull, I mean why do you need a rear deflector? What is the ship gonna be flying backwards through asteroid fields or something? LOL The only benefit to that hull I could ever see is that at least shuttles wont get shot down as they slow down to land, kinda like Me262s were only hunted by the allies when they returned to their airbase cause it was the only time they weren't flying too fast for the allied planes.

P.S. I could whip up a couple of registries for ya if you have blanks, I've not used P81's stuff for a while so I don't think I have the blanks anymore.

lol i know what you mean about the rear deflector, but since its more "in line" with the original FJ Federation Class i always leave it (in dreadnought form anyway) I always think of the "other" Federation (the connie with a third warp) as a light dreadnought, so i just BS myself that the rear deflector is configured for defense to stop ships trailing too closely...if it can push space garbage outta the way at the front i suppose it would stop or slow a missile or fighter going up its ass  ;D

Am looking around now for some blank saucer textures for these (saucer is the main thing i need changed, i can handle the rest) but can only find connie ones at the moment, so could be tricky. I'll post back if i find anything or make some blanks myself sucessfully.

Many thanks for offering, tis much appreciated

Aren't the connie ones the same as the Star League ones (I'm pretty sure you used the Star League saucer for those)

Re: the sec-hull, I thought these were styled after the BB myself, which if you've seen the SFB FBB is a lot nicer than the DN.

Tis true, but i liken the second one to this:

I saw it with the second deflector and figured i might as well do it to match the first  ;D

The textures for the FBCH and connie are nearly identical, but have a couple of differences. Im going to see about knocking up some blank ones tomorrow so anyone can change them to what they wish.

Aah my eyes! De goggles, they do nuteeng! LOL but the mini (which must be kitbashed from other minis) has no rear deflector, SFB module cover art is pretty much the only thing less aesthetically appealing than the actual minnis themselves. I think they've cleaned their act up a bit and are doing much better artwork on newer modules. If haven't seen it yet Desty Nova has done a Mars that is more acurate to the specs/mini than that pic, and it looks rather decent too.

You have my permission for the aft hull textures if it's ok with Rogue9ch, as I gave them to him for his old bch ship. If he doesnt mind, neither do I. Credit Arachne and Hig Hurtenflurst.

I'd be happy to polish the textures for you b4 you release them, because there were things I did to the textures Rogue was going to use but did not in his new version. Your Mars BB would benefit. Lets talk.

Edit: Oh, btw, I have some modified saucer textures. We can really change the look.

ROFL  i know i know, shhh...you arent supposed to bring logic into it! Desty's ships already have a warm place in my shiplist...they will have to pry them from my cold dead fingers (or something along them lines)

Dizzy, cheers! Check yer pm when you get a chance

Wolfsglen, would there be any chance of you also posting 2 and 3 nacelled versions of these beauties? The duel nacelle Star league look is awsome on your second version, by the way.
