Hello again,

I've just finished this interesting ship. Some of you may not like its design, and I apologize ahead of time for the lower-quality textures. If you have the same textures at a better resolution, please let me know.

Ship: USS Protectorate NCC-2175, Federation New Dreadnought, Conjectural, Unbuilt Design:
Download: http://klingon.stasis.ca/models/federation/fs_fdnw.zip

Description:
The Federation looked into a cheaper way to build DNs. The proposed design was to take a WarCruiser (read: NCL) and use it as the saucer for a DN. However, it was discovered that the NCL itself couldn't be cheaply built for this design to be built and existing NCLs could not be used. Since the ship would have to be a whole new construction, this design was never completed.

The ship uses 4 War Cruiser engines (4x12 warps) and has a movement cost of 1.5 like other DNs. I believe the NCL can separate as lifeboat, much like other ships.

On a more personal note, I chose the designation USS Protectorate NCC-2175, and no one else is to blame. ;) That registry didn't seem to be taken, and most other Fed DNs were named after some forms of government, such as the Federation, or Star League. "Protectorate" seemed to fit nicely.

I LOVE conjectural models... ;)

Nice design FS. I like it. Overall its good, just not too enthusiastic about the secondary hull. Why'd u use that one? I do like the fact that it's different tho, just so different is the issue. We have too many run of the mill kit bashes as it is, so it's refreshing to see something a little less mainstream..

HEH!
I don't do mainstream. I do what I need to make a better mod.  :police:

Edit: I'll answer the question:
The secondary hull is a completely new design, even as per the SSD. It would have been in Y178 minimum in SFB, which makes it Excelsior/DNG/BB style for design..  This matches it nicely. It's a completely new thing so the style here is right.

I dunno what res those sec-hull textures are in as I haevn't d/led it yet but on my copy of the Odyssey BB (where that hull comes from) they're 512x512 so it's may be you got them from one of the many kitbashes that used the smaller 256x256 texture maps. A nice ship, I may have to rip off the design for one of my own bashes. ;D
If I determine the enemy's disposition of forces while I have no perceptible form, I can concentrate my forces while the enemy is fragmented. The pinnacle of military deployment approaches the formless: if it is formless, then the deepest spy cannot discern it, nor the wise make plans against it.

Odyssey? *checks*
Google fails... Let's see if I can find an untouched one from an old OP+...
3.0.. no.. too old.. not there. :)
3.1.. yes! .. but the textures are 256x256. no good. :(

Can someone help me by sending me the original Odyssey with the 512x512 textures? The result would be a rerelease.

Daaaagnabit!

Fair enough, I'm sending again to your proper email this time.

You should have it in the soonness of the nearly-now. If you can't wait as long as such a time I'll be happy to travel back in time by moving around a star really fast so I can send you it in nineteen-od-six.

Thank you!
Model re-released. I did not bother to make screenshots, sorry.. but it does look better.

Also! I'll be sure to apply these textures to other models in OP+ that I have in lower quality.

What a cool ship!

This design makes sense when you consider theconcept of saucer seperation!
