MySQL Strees Test -- Oct 6 3PM-6PM Central
« on: October 06, 2004, 05:00:51 am »
I will be conducting a stress test of the server kit Today, during 3PM-6PM Central.  Frankly, I need all the help I can get.

The goal is to make the server crash, and collect data.  Considering the stability problems, that should not be difficult at all.  Plan is to use a small map and have all available players hit a target hex and make the server crash.  I will be logging pretty everything much anything I can think of in the hopes of collecting useful data that might shed some light to why it's so damn unstable.

A bit of warning:  The amount of logging I'll be doing will probably severely slow movement, missions and other such database updates, but the chance of gathering useful information will be greatly enhanced.

The kit will be using stock EVERYTHING, and the kit will go up at exactly 3PM Central.

Not doing anything?  Then help crash the kit!  Your not doing anything else are you?  ;)

You're Alive!!!!   I thought I saw you and Wanderer on Matching milk Cartons.    ;D

I'll be there, um, is that 4-7 PM EDT?

PS.   Can you go with OP+ 3.4?   That pretty much has become stock these days.

As much as I'd prefer 3.4 as well, I think the goal is to get untampered data to work with...

Yes thats 4pm-7pm eastern.

I can use that shiplist if thats what you guys want, I don't anticipate any probelms with the configuration of the kit.

Either is fine, it's just that most of the people who will show up for this kind of a test will likely have OP+ 3.4 installed anyway and it mean lazy bastiges like myself don't need to change anything.

I'll be able to make the last hour.

Haven't we done this before?  Unless there are new diagnostic tools available or a new server configuration being tested I don't really see the point.  Perhaps a substantiation of the reasons for the test are in order.

ATI Radeon HD 4850 512MB GDDR3

A lot of stuff had been going on behind the scenes, I'm sure Bonk and DE can give more details.

Whatcha got to loose for an hour?  Last SQL test only took 20 minutes before my server self-destructed.

If there's a new approach to be taken in test (tools or configurations), I am for it.  Otherwise, why bother.

Lepton,

If you feel this will be a waste of time then do not come, and you'll have no time wasted.  Simple!

I'll go ahead and use the OP+ 3.4 shiplists.

The server will be up in about 40 minutes.  Still finishing the rest of the server setup.

Somethings wrong with my GF file configuration.  It would crash after mission end.  I'm gonna postpone this.  My fault for not testing the server kit before starting. (>_<)

I'll try again tomarrow...

LOL, you people operate with no basis in reality.  If DE has something to test, I am all for it.  If it is yet another stress test that will tell us nothing that we don't already know, what's the point?  That's all I am saying.  I am sure that he has something to test.  Might be nice if he clued in the pleebs.

By the by, there has been numerous requests from Bonk to do tests on servers of his creation that no one seems to show up for except myself and some other folks.  EEK cooties, I assume, they are afraid of catching.  And, Bonk's SQL-based servers sit there largely unused and untested.  Don't expect me or anyone else to jump because someone gets a notion.  How about supporting and testing these persistent servers that Bonk has maintained and designed, if you are all so damn fired up.  LOL.

EEK Cooties he says.....those missions are HARD!!!!  I did one called 'Milk run Patrol' and got my ass handed to me.  Got to be in the right frame of mind to go 6 miles in the snow uphill both ways.
