**** Texturer needed ****
« on: September 09, 2004, 04:39:41 pm »
Im still in need of someone to texture the few ships i have (since i have no clue where to begin on learning textures) specifically the VS1S, the romulan fighter looking thing (both versions) and last but not least my Chariot Class rendition. All can be found on the WIP board.

Please let me know wich one (if not all) you would like to texture and i will get it to you ASAFP

thank you all for getting me hooked on this stuff LOL
  Wulf

*edit* also may have to make a few corrections to my stuff im not the cleanest mesher but i am still learning

hey dizzy, ever hear texporter?  its a plugin for 3dsmax and basically takes a picture of the mesh that you have applied a uvw map to.  makes life very easy to  make textures (and is the tool i use exclusivly to do my maps) and takes much of the guess worrk out of making  textures.  i don't remember the site, but you probably can do a google search for it and find it.

Thats not it tus... I just dont/wont map. I can take a mapped texture and do cool things with it, but I dont create new ones from scratch. I need a template 1st.

If you like I can create a texture template.. wrap it fully to the model..... then give it back to you.. you can then draw whatever you like and see the outcome.. Not a bad way to learn.

Alternatively download Jokers texture video tutorial... its around here somewhere.. and once you have seen it once you wont need anyone..  ;)

I have only been using 3ds max for 4 months ond ps7 for less.... Photoshop is no magic wand unfortunately you do still need artistic ability... what I did was I went to http://www.good-tutorials.com   then I just did ps7 tuts for a couple of weeks... then after I had learnt how to use the software playing around with the layers and stuff... I started to make some textures. Its usefull to open up somebody elses textures whilst creating your own... gives you a good idea of what to impliment into your own.. I also tried and did copy some of atrahasis texture work which is next to none (his not mine ;D) after I had done this a few times for a few of his ships, I made my pirate CC... it works.. try it... look at other textures whilst creating new ones... thats what I do. ;D

So if I asked, you'd suggest Photoshop 7 for texturing, or would an older version be just as good?

Im sure an older version would be just as good.... Just not too old...  ;D

PS7 is great cos you can download loads of plugins to enhance its capabilities... I think this software is next to none...

***point to know.. as far as Im aware PSP is just as good as ps7.. it all depends on which platform you decided to learn on in my opinion***
