I hate SPAM, I really do, and so does Rep. Lamar Smith from Texas who is on the Fed comm. for all this internet stuff.

Anyways, Yahoo mail is pretty darn good about putting SPAM in my bulk folder instead of inbox. Stupid me used to go through my bulk folder and click on each one and tell those bastiches to unsuscribe me from their mailing lists. Well yesterday I came along one that had this poker on the name. WRONG ANSWER to click on that one! Next thing ya know I'm getting e-mails from strangers telling ME to quit spamming them with that poker SPAM!  I replied to a few people explaining what happened and if they had a problem to e-mail Lamar Smith's office as I'm NOT a SPAMMER, even when I do not like someone.

Then last night I finally see my good friend Jerry online and was talking to my ex and the pc just went very slow then locked up! I immediately shut down and had to purchase Norton 2005, which is pretty good program BTW, they even give you a 15 day free trial. I ran a full scan and then used my man in black, Mr. Spycatcher, and NADA, they could not find anything.

PC is back to normal though I still need more memory for this ole girl, a Dell Dimension L933r, but other than that I'm ok.

My friend Jerry taught me a good lesson, NEVER click on anything in your bulk or SPAM folder, even if it is just to get on their site to get unsuscribed. If some of you peeps that have high security systems receive the POKER e-mail, please forward it to Rep. Lamar Smith's office, it's on his website, so we can get this threat SHUTDOWN!

My security is ok, I now have Norton, Sygate, and my man in black, Mr. Spycatcher, but that is not as high security as some of you pc gurus have. I'll run shields up and other programs to make sure I'm secure.

Seriously though, my PC rarely goes on the internet these days, and my iBook can surf the internet with relative impunity.

Or use Linux on your existing hardware. 

More easily I would suggest using a different E-Mail program.  Currently (roughly one week) I am using Thunderbird, yes it is considered a Beta.  But I have found that so far it has not falsely identified any non spam as junk.  If you carefully mark the incoming mail that is left over and define the rules as new mail comes in it segregates things quite nicely.  E-Mail in the Junk folder can be deleted in whatever number of days you desire giving you a chance to look daily and go oops sorry boss didn't mean to lose  you E-Mail to the spam folder.

What E-Mail program do you use Jack?  If it is Outlook or Outlook Express dumping it is highly recommended.

For browsing I was using Mozilla but have switched to Mozilla Firefox and quite like both of them.  The pop up blockers, no active X, better cookie control and TABS make both very nice to use. 

Since MS is only doing security fixes on IE for XP and later switching becomes more nearly mandatory for non XP users.  It also raises the question.  During the antitrust case MS claimed that IE was part of the OS.   They are still security patching prior versions of the OS (required to by law I believe) but not IE.  How can they segregate IE out as not part of the OS for security patching reasons but claim it is an integral part to the courts?

I'd have to agree with Nem here. Dump IE and Outlook and use Firefox and Thunderbird. Or use an internet based email like gmail or yahoo.

I use yahoo mail and I have an MSN acct. as well. Stephen got me on Firefox yesterday. I read about Thunderbird but is it a seperate e-mail service or does it "guard" my yahoo mail? Yes, I'm very impressed with Firefox vs IE explorer. I just need to get my full yahoo toolbar back as it has an anti adware and spyware program too. Does not hurt to have enough protection nowadays does it?
