I have an organization system for my models, and I have no idea how to integrate the idea of Sub-Classes into it.

I mean, they all of Atra's Connies are Constitutions, in a way, but, are they enough to warrent calling them all ConstitutionX where X is the number of the sub-class? Or should they get their own designation, meaning that the Bonhomme Richard class is its own class, not a member of the Constitution class.
Or should there be a middleground, Say that "yes, the bonhomme richard is part of the Constitution-class, but it also gets its own Sub-Class"

Now, if that is the case, then should things like the Lakota get its own Sub-Class? Or should Atra's Monocrease get its own in comparison to the Eagle?
or the Conventry to the Surya?

Well the way I do it is race class role so fConstitutionCA/ and within that I have each seperate ship with registry then name so the Enterprise would come under:

models/fConstitutionCA/NCC-1701 USS Enterprise/ with all the bits and bobs inside.

If there's more than one version like with the Enterprise then I just add something obvious so I know what's what like 'Cage' for the first pilot Enterprise, 'WNMHGB' for the second pilot version, 'TOS' for the series version and 'TMP' for the movie version. This won't work for everybody but I find it very easy to find what I want.
If I determine the enemy's disposition of forces while I have no perceptible form, I can concentrate my forces while the enemy is fragmented. The pinnacle of military deployment approaches the formless: if it is formless, then the deepest spy cannot discern it, nor the wise make plans against it.

made my vote...  ;)

although personnaly I wouldnt try to organise things to efficiently, Try and keep it simple enough for simple people like myself to follow... a higherarchy starting with TOS / TMP / TNG etc then branch out.... surely this should be sufficent.. good luck. ;)

I agree with the above poster. Sort it by SPECIES / ERA / CLASS / SUB-CLASS / VARIANT I think would be the best way...

Technically Bonhomme Richard would be Constitution III as there are two distinct canon versions that come before it but thats a good system yeah.

The other pilot version - LOL. ;D

To be serious as so many people think there's only one 'pilot' version, there's the version from 'The Cage' - schematics can be found here: http://www.home.earthlink.net/~casimiro/18_05.jpg - careful 56k, it's a big picture. Then there's the second pilot version from WNMHGB (Where No Man Has Gone Before) - schematics to be found at this linky: http://www.home.earthlink.net/~casimiro/18_06.jpg - once again, big picture. Most people are familiar with Atra's 'pilot' version which is a wierd mixture of the two canon pilot versions. The series version as we know it is the third version of the Constitution in canon terms though once again many are familiar with Atra's inacurate version - (great model but not actually the proper Constitution class strictly speaking as it has numerous Achernar class features).
If I determine the enemy's disposition of forces while I have no perceptible form, I can concentrate my forces while the enemy is fragmented. The pinnacle of military deployment approaches the formless: if it is formless, then the deepest spy cannot discern it, nor the wise make plans against it.

The differences are so subtle that i could label the first as
F-Constitution-I (TOS-CA)
and the other as
F-Constitution-I+ (TOS-CA)

Not really, there's about as much difference between them two as there is between the Achernar and the Bonhomme Richard. plus we know that there's a major change in the specs between the two, for starters the Cage version only has lasers and probably fusion tipped warheads, they had no phasers and no photons, plus the crew capacity went from around 200 to around 430 for the WNMHGB version. Not to mention numerous missing details like those lit up squares, no running lights, rather different intercoolers on the backs of the nacelles and a different sensor dome.

But whatever 'suits you sir'. (hehe, no one should get that quote).

I have done 1st and 2nd pilot versions of Lord Schtupp's TOS Connie, they look a bit bland as there's no weathering on his TOS Connie (I know the SFB version has but I didn't use that as the originals had no weathering) the only thing I missed was the wierd final stage of the intercooler on the 1st pilot as that would need new mesh which I don't do. Anyway if you want I could contact LS and release them.
