The Mittelmark and the Elohim!
« on: October 02, 2004, 12:32:53 am »
Here is a brand new variant of the BC the Mittelmark, an all drone Battle Cruiser.  Excellent model by Marauth, also the Elohim, a Fire Support Cruiser, a beautiful ship.  Enjoy, here are the ships.

Neat take on the CFS. I'd prefer something a bit more mesh and a little less texture.

Well if you are referring to cuting away part of the hull then, it's a matter of personal taste.  I never really liked that look, and I don't think Marauth did either.  So he came up with this.  The torp launchers are not all texture, he used one of WZs meshes for that.

I really hate cutting pieces of the hull away, when I did the CFS I was working on the principle that there was a war going on at the time and the less time spent sawing up the hull of the Constitution the better so the Starfleet engineers would much more likely just mount the torpedoes directly to the hull rather than come up with a completely new structure to house them.

BTW Rogue I can't tell from these pics but on the Elohim did you retain the smoothing groups I put on the saucer, there should be a sharp line just outside all those little grey square thingies where the saucer top bulges up like the old TOS version, I made that a separate group so there'd be a sharp line as the saucer comes up but I can't see it on those pics.

Don: the CFS is an SFC ship who's specs I used to make the Elohim, the Elohim is the first name in the shipnames.txt file for the game and I like it, it's apparently an old jewish word, and informal word for God, but it's plural, can also mean strength of God.
If I determine the enemy's disposition of forces while I have no perceptible form, I can concentrate my forces while the enemy is fragmented. The pinnacle of military deployment approaches the formless: if it is formless, then the deepest spy cannot discern it, nor the wise make plans against it.

Ok I checked the mod files, for some reason when I imported the file to Max the ship looses the line, I don't know why.  For some reason Max doesn't like it and won't keep the line .

::)

I'll get the file and do it again myself, no biggie. Are any of the smoothing groups preserved on any of the ships? Cuz a lot of the details could get very screwed up, WZ ships have areas which aren't smoothed into each other (because they shouldn't be).

The Elohim is awsome.  She is going to make and awsome CFS in my game.  Looks much better than the one I have been using.
