The New Jersey and the Bismarck
« on: October 02, 2004, 12:25:44 am »
Here are the New Jersey and the Bismarck, which are done by Marauth.  I only added the drone racks in the back so they had a place to fire from.

Anyway here are the ships, enjoy.

 ;D Damn nice!

The SFC series ships keep improving by leaps and bounds! Firesouls next OP+ revision is going to have to include links to models like this for us 56kers...

Well done and thank you for sharing these.

Hey, ever considered plugging up the holes in the breakmod's parts after? You see through them..
.. ie:

Also, Rogue_ninech, I have to decide if I want to use these new BCs in OP+.
1- is it ok?
2- what's your opinion?

You had no idea that I plan to have a SFC URLs addition as part of start menu with my mod, did you? That part's already done, so.. it's just a question of more or less URLs.

I have no problem if you want to use them in a mod, just run it by Marauth as well, I don't htink he'll have a problem with it, but I can't speak for him.  As for the plugging the holes, how do you do that?  I have never tried it.

sometimes painstakingly, but sometimes, if you use 3ds, it's as easy as doing a 'Cap Holes' modifier and applying textures..
Me, I usually just select all the new surface, apply a generic damage texture, and do a "flatten mapping" to remove the stretches. No need to be fancy, and the result's nice.

I'll try that when I have time, see what the result is.  Thanks for the idea.

Ah..the result is the break looks more realistic....

Hmm..that reminds me...there used to be a couple explosion mods around..one with little guys getting blown out and one with life pods IIRC...any one got a location for these?

I notice some of these ships have green torpedo launchers, or in the case of this on, a  large green emitter below the deflector...what weapons are these carring?

Those are plasma torp launchers I have two different plasma launchers.  The green which are on the Bismarck and the Rogue, and the blue which are on the Hood.  That's one is an expiremental plasma torp that failed, besides it gave me a good excuse to paint the launchers blue.

Nice work Rogue and Marauth. I particularly like the plasma launcher idea since hardly anyone's messed with that option much. I don't suppose you have any use for this? -

I was going to post it on DRS, but since the server has died again, I figured I could at least get it online somewhere. I could send you the zip file for the whole thing (brk model and 'drifting' model versions) and it could be an exclusive file for just your site (and DRS of course...if it ever gets back up).

Thank you for the kind words WZ and everyone else by the way.

Send it on over, my email is rogueninech@msn.com        or rogueninech@aol.com   that is my backup email.

I would love to host that on my site.  Last I spoke to Marauth, he was raving about that model and how he would love to use it for his Enterprises, and a ocuple other ships as well.

Firesoul - go ahead and use them if you like.

Rogue: thanks for adding the drones to the BCJ and BCF, I didn't have the shiplist file on hand when I made them so I didn't know they still had drones, you should probably have something similar on my versions of the Kirov and Shangri-La if you edit them at any point. Oh but could you make the two pairs of launchers down there symetrical across the midline of the ship, reverse one set so the spirals in the launchers mirror each other. Just being my usual picky self.

BTW Rogue, please check your AOL mail, I tried to send a ship to your MSN but it got sent back the file was too big, so I had to send it to your old address, mostly texture work made the file a 5mb rar file.

I could do that Marauth, but wouldn't that be overkill?  They already have 12 drone racks.  Even if you change all the major weapons to drones over half that is window dressing.  It's up to you, but I think there are plenty.  Now I changed those on my versions, but since I had the drone laucher underneath I saw little point in adding the drone racks anywhere else.

I don't know what's going on, but I have not received any email from you on AOL or MSN.  It should have went through on AOL.  Maybe you should try again with two files half that size.

Hmm, I didn't get a delivery failiure thing from AOL but I'll try cutting it in half and sending two sets of files.

The drones on the other is because they are of a different type and are meant to be a different hardpoint aswell, having them all fire from the same location would be odd and also I want to keep a uniformity of the fleet in my ships, the drones on the side of the hull are meant to look impressive as well as functional it doesn't matter that there's too many in the textures.

Re: the Enterprise break, I got it and while it is a fantastic break mod, it'd need quite a bit of modification to be the other ships we've done, but it's up to you Rogue as you have to do the brks so if you think it looks better. Also Fed ships should blow up from the warp core, not the saucer, the bit in STIII was because they used the auxilliary self destruct - no power to the warp core, they couldn't use the main one.

I'll do that in a day or two.  Let me know when you resend the email.  As for the STIII brk mod, I'll probably do it for on of my ships, don't know which yet.
