Only in America .....do we use the word 'politics' to describe the process so well: 'Poli' in Latin meaning 'many' and 'tics' meaning 'bloodsucking creatures'.

I'll be on vacation then.  I will be picking it up (completing the set) then I will finally unseal them all and have a marathon session watching the trilogy, for the first time.

Wow. Im surprised that you have had the will power to wait. Do you mean that you have waited to see the EE version or the movies at all?

I have not seen any of the three movies yet.  I do have the first two extended editions here in sealed boxes waiting for the third and have had since they were newly out on DVD.

Locally we used to have two major theater chains and a fairly large number of independents.  One chain bought the other and the majority of the independents have been driven out of the market since then.  The remaining chain has moved most of the theaters out to the suburbs where they are hard to get to if you don't drive.  They have also changed things so that movies only show to crowds.  If a movie is not popular enough to be crowded it is gone.  I am allergic to perfumes.  Being in crowds, especially when I can't move to another location is a sure way to become ill.  Result is I don't go to movies any longer.  I used to go at off peak times such as 4:00 on a Sunday afternoon late in the run of a movie, not anymore.  There is no late in the run now.

The sole remaining chain can now dictate to the distributors the terms under which a movie is seen here.  Even the big releases have to agree to the terms or not show in this market.  It used to work the other way.  The distributors could alway say "we'll just use your competitor or the independents" and the theaters would likely agree to anything reasonable, or for a big movie anything at all.  Just one more reason to hate monopolies and defacto monopolies.
