Something to make you laugh today
« on: October 02, 2004, 10:54:11 am »
Laughter is the best medicine, so thought I would share this incident with you peeps.

I was in Austin for the weekend, 4 days actually, and went to visit my ex co-workers from Advance auto parts and purchase synth oil, filter, and NGK plugs for Vicky's 2001 Civic. We were so busy just enjoying things and I was showing them the sights that I did not have time to stop for oil and tranny fluid change. So we get back to Chihuahua and she has a mechanic work on the car which pissed me off as I do not mind oil changes here even though the nacos do NOT recycle used oil, but I wanted to install the plugs to make sure they were lubed as plugs can get stuck in aluminum block engines and I also wanted to make sure the gap was right on the money. Well, Vicky had the work done at a shop one day during her lunch period, and the guy said he could not find the fuel filter in any store in town so he CLEANED it! Be for frigging real! I studied auto tech for 2 years, earned my A.A.S. in automotive science, worked for Advance auto parts with ASE master parts people, and when I was working on cars and trucks I was working with ASE Master techs, and there is no way in Hades you can "clean" the inside of a fuel filter. Needless to say, I have no kind words for whomever worked on Vicky's car, and she will not tell me where or whom. Whoever it was sure is a NACO!  ;D

Mexico is in severe need of changes all around, and they need an ASE auto tech program like we have!

Had a similar experience in '76 at Clark AB, at the base station no less...he said he poured freon through it to dislodge the particles (and trust me, the gas was crappy there/then)..ran like crap until my dad got a new filter over to me by mail..what a way to abuse a '74 Gremlin (had the wide tires on the back  :D )

Remember I am in process of restoring my bro in law's 69 Camaro RS? Guess what the sports car is here? Remember the Ford Mavericks? They disappeared from the U.S. and now I know where they went, Mexico! Hahahahahahahahaha...

 That was the first car I ever bought myself. A '71 Maverick. Paid $300 for it in '87.
