Seth, Stephen, SSG Adams or Capt. Mike
« on: October 01, 2004, 09:07:28 am »
Dept. of VA only has chapter 30 benefits listed, can someone please call their local recruiting office and inquire how much the G.I. Bill plus Army College Fund is per month now? It is called Chapter 31. I would really appreciate it as next semester is the last semester before my 10 yr seperation period is up. Gotta love VA, I can collect my educational bennies AND disability at the same time! How cool is that?  8)

Thanks guys, I'll be back from Mexico SOON!  8)

1k a month for basic G.I. bill, chapter 30, I'm impressed! Chapter 31 should be almost double then.  8)

Great to see the Feds taking care of our veterans educational needs...  :)

Thanks Stephen, I can't keep calling from Mexico, TELMEX are crooks on the same level as Halliburton, hehehehehehe. Mexicans do not have great calling cards like we do either.

BTW Stephen, you should not have to deal with VA on the phone, any squared away army recruiter should know current rates, and the wait time on the phone is FAR LESS as there are not too many people calling to join go to Iraq nowadays, hehehehehehe.

Hey Bro, I called two different recruiters, However, They needed More Info then I could Provide. It all depends on How long you where In ( I told them you where a GW1 Vet), how much was paid in etc.

Now for the semi-Good news. All you have to do Is go to the College you want to go to, and speack with the VA rep. They can get you squared away. The Number though that I got the best information from was 405-672-5123 , ask For Mike Johnson. Sorry  I couldn't do any better for you bro.

Ch 31 G.I. Bill and Army College Fund, yrs served 7 years, joined in 88, exited in 95. I only have one semester left of entitlement left as I've used the other months of bennies under the army college fund and you have to use your educational bennies within 10 yrs of exit from military.. That should be more than enough info for him and will be short and sweet. Historically it has always been double the money vs peeps that just chose G.I. Bill.

Thanks amigo!

BTW, SSG Adams mention a kayak and canoe trip on Colorado river? We'll talk soon on that one.  :)

I was wrong Stephen, ch 31 is voc rehab. I'm on MGIB ch 30 with the ACF kicker. I did research and it looks like the 2004 rates are almost 1400 dollars a month, but my last semester of eligibility, which I will use, will be after Dec which is when those bennies go up along with disability pay, retiree pay, etc...

You can call though if you like to confirm, and maybe he/she already has the 2005 rates as VA is very slow to post new rates on their website.

Thanks.

BTW SSG Adams, I saw something on a website about converting VEAP to MGIB, Montgomery G.I. Bill, you may want to research as the conversion would be WELL worth it.
