Question for you, Chris:

Is that Dennis Baily vision of the Phoenix you have in those three pics a 3D model or is it Anduril's SFC version?

I'm a little confused...

I know what Firesoul means about the Guard ships => this would be an ideal candidate.

I just generally have a problem with the Guard ship concept => old ships are *old* and would be too expensive to operate. New ships would be first line warships (maybe just small ones), not undergunned oversized warships that drag down resources and don't provide enough protection.

Not really. If you follow the principle that the National Guard does, the Guard would be home to ships like a 24th century Excelsior or a late 23rd century Asia.

The real Nat'l Guard uses old, but servacable equipment. I'm getting a 20 year old M60 in the next few months, but it is still deadly dispite it's age and the availability of better weapons. A starship is too expensive to be thrown away even after 50+ years, and having it refitted Nat'l Guard (or ready reserve) service would be a great way to squeeze some more use out of it.

Without making it look too much like an Akiraprise-themed design, Dennis Bailey transformed an early Constitution-class design and made it modern. More metallic-looking hull patterns and grids and more-believable thrusters and so on... It's basically a 21st-century look on an old 1960s design we all like, and much of the original design is still there. At the time when I discovered this, I saw Anduril making an attempt at making an SFC version, and to this day I still have it with me (I hope! Only way it'll be lost is if I lose track of my backed up data on CDs or one of 'em gets scratched up badly), and I enjoy this design, as it gives much respect to the original design of the Constitution-class while making it look more believable and more appealing to newcomers of the original series.

I agree, it does respect the original design.

Both models are excellent!

Oh, the one I linked to was the 3D model of DB's.  I'd actually have to find the SFC version in my room somewhere if truely needed... Aren't Anduril's ships posted somewhere though? *shrug*

great news man, I kinda like them telarites so seeing better ones is great. BTW,   I've been trying to   email u...did u get any of them?

yeah i did but appearently my replies have gone astray.....

The Manta thing I haven't gotten too it but i have ideas on other changes for that mesh as well and as i am bouncing around about this that and the other I am sorry its taking so long.
Any way its great to see people interested in my early stuff too. I really was learning alot about how to do this back then.   If you look at some fof the older stuff I did and compare it to the more recent work you'll notice a huge difference in quality. Or at least i do. My point is, when i started i had very little idea what i was doing. All those that are just getting into this kind of thing can take from me that you can do some pretty good stuff if you stick with it. Not that mine is as good as some of the greats we've been glad to see in this community

Well, for not knowing what you are doing that single nacelled BOP still looks good. I've taken several  others off your old site in addition to your KCL  and the new bop you released. Now,  not all are in BC yet  but they looks fairly decent in max renders with no fx. Usualy if a model passes that test as "fair" or better, it will look ok in BC. I showed you the pix right? If not I can repost the link. I'll let you  know when I put more  of your stuff in, but I'll be doing a couple roms first.

Have you ever have one of those days where every time you try to get a file it's corrupt? After conquering that little problem I have finally been able to add the ship to Jeff's page http://sfcmodsrus.0catch.com/jwallace.html

TOS based TNG Connie?  This sounds interesting.  May I see a pic?

Yeah. I think that might go over well.

I am not usually into TNG stuff....(old F@#$@er) but You know that might work out.
I am going to be working on some of these other reworks first though so it may be a while before i could get to it.

*sputter*

15000+ polys!
.. I can't use this.. just that ship alone on my screen and my PC was going 11FPS. Is there a lower poly version of this ship around?
