I don't remember if I've had it, along with other Vietnamese dishes.

Being a prejudiced Chinaman, of the East Asian cusines, I prefer Chinese, Japanese, and some Filipino dishes... oh, and Indian, but that's South Asian... oh for a properly prepared linguine alla vongole.

Question: Why do alot of Asians have trouble with American dishes. My aunt is a Filipina and she almost never eats American food. Is it too heavy? Most of what she eats is rice, fish, and chicken.

Hey Shadow, I think it is partly that and that the flavors are not that subtle in traditional American dishes; they're kind of "stronger" even in foods considered "bland" like sliced roast beef that's come out of the fridge; nothing wrong with that, mind you; it's just that the flavors (and textures) in Asian dishes oftentimes are different in spicing and somewhat more "nuanced".  Culturally, most Asians subconsciously look for different kinds of flavors.

Best of all worlds: pick what you like from all cuisines!  You can always go get a burger or a slice or a dog.

Ahh, I understand. I guess it really is what youre used to. My aunt Mira wont eat "American" rice. My uncle buys her rice imported from Asia.

Funny thing. My uncle Esten is my grandmother's brother. Mira isnt even 30 yet. I always thought Asian women were "demure", but Mira gives back as good as she gets. My uncle likes to tease her that he might need to get "a couple more". Mira shoots back, "You wont find one like me and they wouldnt "put up" with you". Of course he loves her. When she told him that she didnt like living so far from town, he bought her a house in town.

Is *that* how you pronounce likker.   8)

Most Indians (dots, not feathers) don't care for American food.   Besides a lot of vegitarians, they their food spicer and less heavy.

In the military Ramen soup was a Godsend when we were in the field as MREs can get boring, my parents mailed me Ramen soup and Texas hot sauce when I was in the Desert Storm, Tobasco Sauce was one of the most requested items from the troopies.

My favorite soup is still chicken and noodle or beans and ham, yummy! When you can find someone that knows how to make it right charro bean soup is a good meal on a cold night. I have found that I prefer Tex Mex instead of authentic Mexcian food.
