You've selected only one system to hit-and-run.  If I choose to hit the enemy's Disruptors, for example, I will normally select all four.  This way your odds of hitting one disruptor do not go down, but your odds of hitting all four go up.

Either way, you are going to send all 7ish marines.  Why not take the chance to get more out of them?

This whole problem would go away if we had a hotkey for hit-and-runs.  I can't imagine why we don't, when we have a hotkey for virtually everything else, including a lot of things I don't think we need one for.  Maybe when we have access to the source code.....

No, the sounds text is a maze of different "pointers" to wav files.

Just a sample.....lets say red alert voice:

As you can see, I did modify EVERY race's red alert to "Point" to the klingon sound file  EXCEPT the Feds.   I figured that there would be no way in hell Fed would be used....lol.  Find and replace would not work in this set up.  It's all manual baby !!

Well, a massive redo of most files and we could do this.

Have Hooch make the map for the Cartels.

Put Klingon ships in three cartel slots.

EVERYONE gets stuck with the same Pirate UI's....

Your lack of understanding is apparent. The pause toggle is not to turn off or deselect targets. You use it to set up your H&R's beforehand and then to use them when you want to; at a time of your choosing without having to choose targets on the fly. It is extremely useful and many players use it a lot.

I'm sorry for the work involved and that you didn't know about it sooner, but it is a fixable problem that was caught before the server started. I'm tired of having one faction on a server told to suck it up when a handicap is discovered in one of these mods. Its time for the admins to suck it up and fix these things before they turn into problems.

As per Scipio's comment, I for one would use more than 1 marine at a time, so yes it does matter big time whether the pause button works or not, as you have to click in and out all that were selected and when we are talking 5 to 7 transporters, that's more than just one little click to save an ill timed transport. Seconds can be precious in a battle.

It kind of makes sense considring H&R are used way more on GSA than D2 and few people fly Mirak on GSA.

Actually I never knew about a pause button until recently. Figured it was the same for everyone.

Now that I do know I realize that this was the reason for all my p v p loses as a Kzin..... ;D j/k

seriously though I wonder if there is anyway to fix this or is it in the source code?

Not that it is that big of a deal, we Kzin are capable of overcoming this minor disadvantage, besides our opponents need a handicap anyhow..... ;D

I understand how to perform Hit and run raids...

Looks like Hooch has a decision.

Any race change will require a re-do of the map and shiplist.  If we don't use Fed, then it will have to be a PF race and a donor fighter race will need to be modified( that will screw up some of the finer details, but if people don't mind half assed, then it's ok).



Looking more and more like a November launch.   Is GW4 ready?  ;)

use Klingon  :P  No technical isues and 5 minutes of map editing.  problem solved.  The technical issues trump any whining over favoritism.

PS,

it would involve a client side change to the shiplist to put the klingons at the top of the list.  That would only take about 5 minutes though, so no sweat there....  ;)

This of course would mean a new installer (Bonk has already put one together).

The Installer was created prematurely.  never should have been made until after everything was tested.




No problem to update it. I did it early to get the work done when I could, updates are quick and easy for the most part. I fully expected files to change before the server start (missions have already changed once, and I expect this to be the first in a series of changes in the shiplist). We could edit the flatfile after everyone has logged in as Klingon to the desired race slot, preserving the Klingon UI if we really wanted to.

Anyway, I'll keep an eye on things and update the installer as necessary.
