You youngsters today...lol
« on: September 23, 2004, 03:22:03 pm »
Had a corporate softball game yesterday, and since we are all independent contractors each office
could field a team if they wanted to.  My office has 50 agents in it, of those folks over 36 are under the
age of 30.  We could only get 6 people to play,  The largest excuse ( I am no good, people will laugh
at me )  now keep in mind it is a bunch of agents getting together and drinking beer and playing 3 ball
game stretched out over 4 hours, and usually we are drinking for a couple of hours b4.  Its not like anyone
at this point in time is an ozzie smith or barry bonds lol.  The 2nd most used excuse is ( I'm too out of
shape ) I'm  6'4 and weigh about 330lbs, I am not a pillar of physical prowess.  I can understand if you have
appointments or other work, but come on its a time to get out and blow off some steam, socalize, and have
fun.  And just Fyi we took an informal poll most of my company is about 50/50 as far as age, half are older or
younger than 30.  At the softball tourney approx 75% were over 30.  What is it with you younger pups?
get off the couch, put down your palm pilots, and come get some excersie.  sheeesh, just my usual ranting
and raving

Funny you should mention this.  When I graduated HS 8 years ago I was 6'1", 150 lbs.  I pailed in comparison to my peers who were mostly stronger and faster and better physically trained than me, depsite the fact that I was an all state swimmer.  Fast forward to present day: I am now 215 lbs, and while i still pail in mass compared to my peers, their mass has taken a detour to their bellies and butts, where as I am running faster and longer, lifting more than ever.
And what is their excuse you ask?  "I'm getting old."  For Christs sake, YOUR 26 YEARS OLD!!!  YOU'RE IN YOUR PRIME YEARS.  Pansies.

I got to admit that i fall somewhat into that catagory, i weighed about 220 and still was 6'2- 6'3 , and yes alot
has gone tomy belly lol, ;D but come on wtf you are only running 360' at a time , get over it.  I don't run at all like i used to, but I do a ton of walking especially in the winter with my snow removal job, but i am 33 years old
this year and i can go circles around these "young" guys who are in shape.  I just think it is pathetic.  I have 2 companies that take about min 60hrs a week of my time, 3 kids and a wife, i may not look it, but it was proved
I am in better shape than the guys  :P  sad sad sad...

Hey... I resemble that remark...

I went from 165 in '96 when I graduated to 215 now, though I'm still in pretty good shape. However, some of the guys i know have also fell into using the 'I'm getting older' excuse to justiufy the fact that they went from wearing 30"x36" pants to 36"x30" pants.

Because their pants are sliding farther down- the size 40's would cost more than just wearing a shorter pair below the 'dunlap' portion of the belly.

Gonna catch it but....6 foot and 130 when I joined the USAF, same height, 205 lbs.  21 years later..retired for nearly 11 years, 160..I think mine is lack of stress..I'm responsible for myself..not my kids, my airmen, my commanders...my kids are all over 21, I have no more airmen, and I only have to deal with the site manager, who can't afford to lose me at this point, 'cause the Unix system is mine, and no one knows how to keep it going but me (and my notes are here at home)...

Biggest thing, watch what you eat and drink (moderation), and just a little excercise, like walk a mile a day..it's only 15-20 minutes...and get your kids to move out ASAP...then change your phone number  ;D

The reason why people shrink when they get older isn't age...they're just being transformed into gnomes for the tacky people who like gnomes on their lawn.

Thankfully, most of us die before the transformation is complete. Those unlucky few that live long enough are doomed to an eternity sitting next to pink flamingos and other assorted lawn brick-a-brack
