Love to join ya, but I gotsta to try and get Squadron Commander going. And tonight Im watching the trilogy, buying Warhammer 40k Dawn of War, and Star Wars Battlefront for the xbox. Kinda busy here.

If you spot me a free drone load, I might logon and fly Mirak... But we have to fly in an asteroid field!

Let me know what you think of that.

I'm a big Epic player, but found GW's last computer game on the topic to be a lot less than inspiring.  I know this one is based upon WH40K rather than Epic, but if you can get enough units on the field to make it look like Epic, and the gameplay is good, I may part with a few dollars for it.

I was one of the beta testers for it
(Well admittedly so were like 100000 other people but anyway)
It's  a great game- I really don'e like RT strategy all that much, but this one is fun.
You won't have as many units as Epic though- probably a couple of Land Raiders, 3 dreads and 5-6 squads would be about the biggest.
Although again I'm not sure how bug the end battles are.

You cant be more wrong Hexx... I had 10 Whirlwinds. LOL! I sent in a scout squad stright into an enemy fortified area and all the enemy's close combat troops rushed in to slay my scouts only to hear the rushing sound of whistling death above their heads. The whole area was promptly, and suitably so, covered with craters sans the enemy troops... I wasnt able to find out where my scout squad went... I gave them specific orders to 'stay out of trouble'. ;) Wait... is that a scout's leg over there? Hrmmm. Where's my Apothacary?

Its pretty damned fun. I really dislike the 'formulae' of RTS games where you have to build stuff. But its not as bad as the Warcraft2 or command and conquer crap. You have a cpl servitors (for the Space Marine Side) and go around building a few various (not many) buildings to get/train/aquire/whatever the troops you want. Then you equip them, reinforce them, attach units like Apothacarys, commanders, sergeants, Librarians, etc. and send em out to wreck havoc.

I sent up a squad on a rooftop to cover a strategic point down below. I had it equipped like a devastator squad with 4x heavies; 2x Missile Launchers and 2x Heavy Bolters. They really knew how to sweep the street clean. :D er till those pesky enemy jump pack marines landed on the rooftop and promtly chainsawed and cleaved my guys into fine red sprays of body parts flying here and there. Oh the gore...

I like it. Its pretty fun. There isnt that much depth to it tho, but I wasnt able to build teleporters and terminators yet... And I needed to find some 'relic' thing to get access to the Land Raider, but the Predator and Dreads kick ass. With just 2x multimaps and a single level campaign game, it may not have shown all there is to see from the Demo I have, but still, I felt as if there was something missing.

As far as epic, Scipio, dunno. Most I can tell is you can have 10 squads and 10 vehicles, but that was Demo. Still, 10 vehicles... that's a whole lotta steel. Thats fairly epic. ;) You might like it. I'll tell ya more when I buy it this week. They didnt have it although I thought they would have by the 21st.

DH: Battlefront, played it tonight. There are many better 1st person shooters. Much better. In fact, if you plan on playing this solo, dont buy it. You'll get bored and quit fast. But if multi or co-op split screen is fun, or you have lan parties, its a f*cking hoot. My kid and I were playing it tonight and we wernt watching where we were going and both screamed aloud when an AT-AT stepped on us. Hehe. I finally made it into the enemy Hoth base (I was an Imperial Storm Trooper killing dreaded and traitorous rebel scum) and made it past the Millenium Falcon and down the hangar into the base corridor, rounded the corner and saw a slew of rebel soldiers of which like 3 or so tossed grenades at me. Now that wasnt very nice...

With an online friend(s) playing multi or even a co-op splitscreen offline mode, SW BF is a freaking blast.

So did you get the Xbox version. My 5 1/2 year old was begging me to get it (at least that is the story I am telling the wife), but we don't have Xbox Live, so I was a bit curious if the SP and split screen was worth it. Probably run out this weekend to get it, we already have everyother SW game on the Xbox and Gamecube. That kid is a Star Wars freak (at least that is the story I am telling the wife) hehehe.

Well, I thought it looked good. I mean, I ran around Mos Eisely shootin up rebels on splitscreen with my kid. Its pretty fun. We tried to work together, but we currently lack team skills, hehe. We keep getting seperated run into enemy positions thinking that together, we can take em, then yell for help when we start getting our asses shot off only to realize we both are alone and then we die horribly. We won tho, thanks a lot to our AI that we helped out. Tried it on Hoth and we died. Apparently, we didn't do enough and the rebels whooped our asses... hehe.

There are so many worlds, so many different roles to play, its endless fun even w/o Xbox Live, which I dont have yet. Waiting on Halo2 for that one.

I think -Dax would disagree with you on that one... he wasted quite a few SP on me that winked into nothingness.  ;)

Yeah, nothing hurts more than someone who knows when to use it and times it right too. However, we did pretty good in 2 CLCs vs. those heavies.   8)

Didn't see that fight. That might have been when Corbo, Reejr and myself were going nuts on that full-tilt Coop-Ace against the 32 AI ships, plus complementary attrition units.
Corbomite won two "Disengagement by the skin of my teeth" awards in a row. :)

Bach's KRCS was one hit from death and my NHK was pretty F'd up.   Remind me to count your shuttles better next time :)

The fight was awesome and long, how they should be and the Cloak saved my ass.   The 2 D7W versus 2 FDW fight was interesting as well and I'm cool with doing more Klink versus Klink.

See ya at 11 PM EDT.
