Launch is imminent.

When I got home from work today, I decided I was being a goober.  Rather than starting and then having you download a patch for the strings, like I was going to do when I thought I'd launch on time, why not "patch" the strings now and save you guys a download?

So, I am in the middle of editing the strings file, which will allow you to see ship names rather than "?????" for every ship.  I'm about half way done.  I'll finish that up, then recompile the installer, and then put up the link for the download.

Watch this space.  I'll update this thread in a bit when the installer is ready, and then I'll announce the server going live in this thread.

Try this:

You must unzip this into your Star Fleet Command Orion Pirated directory.  I should create a folder named SquadMaker with a lot of files in it.  Double click and use the Extract button to unzip it!  Do not drag and drop the contents from the wizard window!

Go into SquadMaker and double click on ToSquad.bat

This will install Squadron Commander on your system, making a backukp of evrything that is there now.

When you are ready to go and play something else, double clidk FromSquad.bat.  This will uninstall Squadron Commnder.

When you are ready to play again, double click ToSquad.bat.

Easy, eh?

I'm sill getting the firewall message on my game machine, so I can't tell if this all works properly yet.  Someone give it a try and let me know

Samething happened to me in a patrol

On my WIN2K machine, it seems to be installing just fine.

On my WIN98 machine, howevever, it doesn't create all the model folders for some reason.

Try this until I get the installer fixed:

Open SquadMaker, and you will see 19 model folders.  Drag over all the folders to highlight them, right click, and choose "copy"

Then, back out of the SquadMaker folder and go into the SqdnCmmd folder.  Right-click and choose "paste" to put all the populated folders there.

They try playing.  It should work for you now.

I got a starfield but no model. It played until I was hit by a disrupter and then it CTDed.

P.S. I saw some of the regular ships in the yard. That was one expensive G-CM, but some of these people could buy it in a week.

Yeah, see above.  It creates the directories on my WIN2K machine (Just watched it happen.....) but not on my WIN98 machine.  (Just watched it not happen.)

It's a simple command:
copy *.* ..\..\..\SqdnCmmd\FMSTG

Not sure why it isn't working on 98.  Use my workaround for now, and I'll get you something better soon.

Just did. Logging back in now. For what it is worth, it just created the first model dir FMGT(whatever) but that dir was empty.

OK, I found the problem.  And the lesson is, make sure you hav the same version of your installer on both machines.

I'll have a new download up soon that will work for all new players.

Those with the old download can use the fix listed above, and will also need to do one more thing.

Go into your Assets/models folder and swap the model.siz file for the SC_model.siz file.  If you don't, you are going to see some HUGE hydran PFs.  (Save the old one, you may need it when you switch back to OP+3.4 or whatever you were using before.)

Cool....Flew a couple missions already and boy is it coooolllllll. Those suckers are fast. The Asteriod Base Assult was the bomb.
