P81's Melbourne- damage maps by me :). The damage maps are  only 256, so a bit of blur up close but runs smoother for servers.

That's not Pneumonic81's Melbourne; It looks like Admiral Ljunberg's Galaxy-class model kitbashed into the Melbourne by Knox1711.  That is, if memory serves me right...

Pun intended if y'know what I mean. ;) I'm not trying to start something though, I just wanted to clarify something upon recognition, I'm not accusing anyone of anything.  People make mistakes and I understand.  I was just wanting to point it out if I'm right.

But in any case, those are some pretty good textures.

I was wondering about that. Thanks for clearing it up. The way the readme was worded I had trouble understanding who did what, as refernces to 3 seperate models are named within the same readme.

Say Chris can you clear up 1 more item please. Is knox1711 and PnemonicP81 the same modeler?

No.  They're two different people.  Knox1711 isn't too much of a modeler even, at least not one that starts from scratch.  But he is a wonderful kitbasher and texturer, to be truthful.

Ok and thanks for being tactful about this :)  Now I am wondering who did the textures. Those are P81s I think. He must be involved in this model in some way as he is mentioned in the readme.    :drink:

Hmm well I got this SFC2 version at Staryards but I found a version at SFC3files that has this posted as the readme.

I think its the same ship so this may need to be corrected over at SFC3files as well. Looks like P81 got credited for the entire model here.  To me the original readme is confusing as it doesn't seem very specific.   ???

Well I see p81 aka Rick Knox a lot, but then there is also knox1711 and whats wierd if they are the same is there are readmes that thank p81 for letting knox 1711 use his models  ???

Here is the readme I have from the Melborne. Notice how reference is given and thanks to P81 and moonraker. Then at the bottom its signed Knox1711. (actually 1709, but I have seen 1711 more often always thanking P81 for letting him use his models)  Its confusing.

Well, first thanks to Admiral Ljungberg for his Galaxy Model. It is truly a pleasure to work with.  Also thanks to ex astris scientia, Moonraker, and P81- I borrowed ideas from all of them.   I also borrowed P81's sensor strip and some shuttle bay textures off of his new Galaxy.  I also took the fighter bay door textures off of hsi excellent F-BCHV, Georgw W. Bush Carrier.  I’ve spent a lot of time on three nebula conversions – First, the U.S.S. Phoenix, first seen in TNG with a sensor pod.  Actually, she was also the first  Nebula Class seen in Trek.   – I added a few photon torp launchers to the pod, fore and aft.  I use this ship as my F-CFS.  I spent several hours working on her, modifying the mesh heavily, the textures and the light maps.  Here are some shots…check out the blue glow effect on the underside of the sensor pod…

Next is the U.S.S. Endeavour, with the more common Weapon Pod Refit – Photon Torps a plenty here – she is my F-CFS+.  Both P81 and Moonraker used the same texture for the weapons pod on their earlier nebulas, and I have seen it elsewhere.  I want to give credit to whoever created that texture, because I ripped it off…

Finally, the U.S.S. Melbourne, this is my version of the first Nebula prototype - seen as a model on Captain Riker's desk in teh TNG episode "Future Imperfect".  I use her as a CVA+...

I made sure the hardpoints for these babies were dead on.  Use FBB UI.  Spec files included - requires ship edit.  Stats loosely based on info from the Daystrom Institute.

Two final notes – First,  thanks again to the Admiral for his model.  I look forward to seeing more from him, including his Nebula class, which I’m sure will be a better mesh than mine.  Second – I tried to get these close to canon, but I took a few liberties – artistic license…(like the torp launchers in the “sensor pod” -  it just looked cool).

Enjoy,

Knox1709

What I believe is that both the Melbourne at SFC3files and the one at Staryards are the same ship. One in SFC2 format the other converted.

From the above readme I posted, It would seem Knox 1709 is in fact a differetn modeler other than Rick Knox aka P81. He states he used some of P81's semsor strips. So it sounds like he used Admiral's model. Most of his own textures and some textures pulled from P81 models.

Well, I'm certain that the original textures and original Galaxy-class model that was used to kitbash the Melbourne was by Admiral Ljungberg and I'm certain that most of the textures were mostly tweaks by Knox1705/1709/1711 (he used all three numbers, most notably the 05 one at the original or second Taldren forums).  Also take note that Knox1711 and Rick Knox (A.K.A. Pneumonic81) is not the same person.  Having been in the community for years and seeing works done by all different authors, I've come to note this.
Later on though, he began to kitbash Ljungberg and P81's Galaxy-class ships together.  I think it's mostly Ljungberg's model with some improvements from P81's model, as well as P81's textures were put into it and re-done and improved... He also began to do the same with some Nebula-class Starship models.  The Galaxy-class model (at least) is now frequently used and seems to be called the "C2 Galaxy" at BCFiles.com.
However the model used in this case isn't the latter which I described.  I recognize the textures and if I remember where, I still have the model myself.  However, in these days at SFC3Files.com and BCFiles.com, it seems once someone begins modifying some work at SFC, the work is modified more and more and the crediting messed up more and more, and more confusion comes at who credits who (or something like that)...

This is why in this case I felt like correcting what was an honest mistake.  Once again I meant no offense, just trying to help out in my own way.  Once again nice work Guest.

It isn't like people haven't used more than one screen name before. In fact it happened fairly frequently back on the old forums, in some cases quite annoyingly with the little practical jokes and all. This is the internet and unless someone's good with backtracking info, there's no real way to confirm anyone's identity.

Just pointing out the fact that you can't always take everything at face value.
