To install Squadron Commander, download this file:
ftp link updated on Sunday, Sept 26, 2004:****** ftp://216.147.123.21/pub/SquadInstall_1.4.zip ********** NOTE: If you have an earlier version of Squadron Commander installed, you should click on the FromSC.bat button, and then erase the SquadMaker folder from your Orion Pirates folder. (You do NOT need to erase the SqdnCommd models folder from your OrionPirates folder.) Then, you should extract the 1.3 version into you Star Fleet Command Orion Pirates folder and double-click the ToSquad.bat button **You must unzip this into your Star Fleet Command Orion Pirates directory. (No other directory will do) Double click and use the Extract button to unzip it! Do not drag and drop the contents from the wizard window! It should create a folder named SquadMaker in your Orion Pirates directory, with a lot of files in it.
Go into SquadMaker and double click on ToSquad.bat
This will install Squadron Commander onto your system, making a backukp of everything that is there now.
When you are ready to go and play something else, double click on FromSquad.bat. This will uninstall Squadron Commander and restore your system using the backup files. (The extra models will remain in a folder called SqdCmmnd)
When you are ready to play again, double click ToSquad.bat.
Easy, eh? You should be able to easily switch back and forth between Squadron Commander and whatever else is currently on your system, like OP+3.4 or one of the other servers. You can make shortcuts to the .bat files and put them on your desktop to make swapping things out faster.
NOTE THAT THE INSTALL TOOL WILL FAIL IF THE FILES ARE ALREADY INSTALLED, AND THE UNINSTALL TOOL WILL FAIL IF YOU HAVE NOT INSTALLED.
This is a safety feature to prevent you from accidentally clicking on the wrong icon and hosing your system. If either tool fails instantly, you probably are trying to use the wrong one.
