Identify enterprise version?
« on: September 06, 2004, 07:58:58 am »
When I was in Vegas at the Trek Experience at the Hilton, In the museum of Trek Technology there was a video display of various battles from the trek series. In one scene I saw an enterprice c look  alike close in close proximity to what   looked like another enterprise. The thing is it unleased a broadside of rapid pulse phaser shots at the other ship. It looked kind of like a classic sail age wet navy war galleon cannon exchange. The phaser hard points were on the secondary or engineering hull. It may have been a DS 9 episode but it was not a defiant and it was firing what looked like pulse phasers all along the secondary hull at least four hard points (it looked like) stephen and I were trying to figure out what that was all about. (actually stephen thought I was seeing things) Any one know what series and episode that was and why the ship had those hard points on the sides of the secondary hull?

[BTW stephen the other casino guy we could not think of while we were there was Hilton]

There is an episode of TNG where many Enterpises from alternate universes meet.  Though I have not seen that episode yet I understand that they do fight and the scene may well come from that episode.

NOpe, in this one, the whole timeline gets changed and Guinen is the only one that knows something is wrong.

no, no he is not talking about Yesterdays Enterprise.  He is talking about the one where worf is returning from a Bat'leth competition and flys through something that disrupts his hold on his reality and evertime he gets near Geordi's visor he shifts into another reality.  At the end of the episode they figure this out but the barrier between realities breaks down and hundreds of Ent-D's start appearing.  One of them is from a reality in which the borg won and that Ent-D starts firing on worf's shuttle as it trys to return through the rift to restore things to normal and return him to his proper reality.  The Ent-D that worf was on fires on the Borg damaged Ent-D and destroys it because it is so badly damaged.

Only a few phaser shots were shown in this episode though so I don't think this is the one taht you saw at the Trek Experience.  There was one DS9 episode "The Sacrifice of Angels"  where they are battling the Dominion fleet trying to get to DS9 to stop the Dominion from destroying the miniefield.  In it you see a Galaxy class firing mutilple, simultanous shots from its phaser arrays at a cardassian cruiser, but they are standard shots not pulse phasers.  That might have been the one shown.

well it wasn't standard phasers but it wasnt pulse phasers either. the beams were solid but short duration. thye were also orange. And they fires stacatto. the ships were drawing parallel to each other at point blank range rather  like galleons in a broadside exchange.

That sounds alot like the battle between Enterprise and Reliant in the Mutara Nebula.

It was not a NCL. it was a enterprise type ship. Had a secondary hull like a connie but next generation type nacelles and all parts were thicker than  ent a. the ship looked like an enlarged and modernized constitution class. it was part of a much larger battle kind of like the battle scene at wolf or from the first contact movie. thats why I assumed it might be one of the DS 9 story arcs. that and the firing points and FX.

Does it look like this:
http://www.neutralzone.de/database/Federation/StarFleet/AmbassadorVariant02.htm

This is the Ambassador class, it showed up in TNG with Yesterday's Enterprise as the Enterprise C, and they brought it back several times with DS9.  I think in TNG terms it would be a BC.

It showed up in several DS9 battle sequences, and was used in the Wolf 359 "Ship graveyard" scene of TNG. In each case it's a reuse of the Enterprise C Ambassador class model.

I think that was it but the scene cuts kept me from seein a full side profile. from above it looks about right.

I think that  is the one (cannot be certain) now I'm just trying to track that scene (if it is from any of the series) so I can watch that episode.  Because the phaser fight was so unusual.
