Well, Don must be still sleeping...

In 1189, England's King Richard I (the Lion-Hearted) was crowned in Westminster.

In 1658, Oliver Cromwell, the Lord Protector of England, died.

Those are the only two I can think of....

Can't wait until Nov 5th tho'  http://www.bonefire.org/guy/  Still have never gotten a diffinative answer on whether they are celebrating his capture, or that he tried.

This is the one I was looking for....  Wasn't he Robin Hood's Richard?

Yeah, he was Richard I, the Crusading King. The man only spent something on the order of 5 years of his reign (which was like 20 years) in England- the rest of the time he was off campaigning.

The people hated Catholics, so it is in celebration.....it's just that those lean a ceratain way want to smudge that part of history. ;)
God said to the Welsh: 'I am going to give you this glorious land of lakes and mountains.' So where's the catch, asked the Welsh? 'Wait until you see the neighbours,' replied God.
