a new take Damage maps
« on: August 31, 2004, 09:57:27 pm »
Well, i got to thinking. Why do damage maps have to always look like they are just damaged versions of the normal map...why not make it so the Damage maps look like the internal mechanisms of a ship ie: warp coils for the nacelles, crew quarters and hallways or something liek that for a inhabbited section . has anyone tried that?

I always try to put some internal damage into my damage maps, but I also like to see parts of the hull smashed to bits too, so its not that far off.  RaduG

you  know, at BCfiles there are some textures that do that.  I dunno if they work  in quite the same way  though, but I suppose it can't hurt to go swipe one or 2 of them for testing purposes.
