Source code precedence - new topic
« on: August 30, 2004, 08:29:20 pm »
About four months I too inquired about the source code for SFC OP being released.  I was told that it probably wouldn?t happen.  I was also asked how many other games have released their source code to the public and I could only think of three but knew there were more.  Well, now I have found a website that lists a town of games that have released the source code and a lot are fairly new . . . well . . . kind of.

Visit Liberated Games at
http://www.liberatedgames.com/gamelisting.php

It is worth a visit and hopefully we will see SFC OP in there someday.  I know I will mod the *#Q#@$ out of the game if they do!

There are some pretty good games on that list. It'll be nice to see SFC added (I hope).

I wish that someone could/would get ahold of Erik and fill him in on What Bill Fisher from Quicksilver is doing. When Erik gave his farewell speach he stated that he was going to release the source code. He later retracted it pending permission from Quicksilver. I'd like to see Erik and Bill get on the same page here. :'(
If Romulans aren't cowards, then why do they taste like chicken?

I just hope they do the same with SFC:OP eventually.  The only problem is Paramount releasing the code (notice all other games are original ideas).  I just can't see it being a big problem though since we can already do so much with the models and textures.  What would it hurt to modify the weapons and UI some (i.e.  I would LOVE to add Legendary crew to OP again!)  Think of what the community could do!

I agree, but I'm NOT holding my breath for Paramount to do anything for anybody. With out making the all mighty dollar. :( :( :(

...and there you have it...

Paramount=Predator
Fans=Prey

...anyway I thought Quicksilver was the obstacle?  No?

I am not to sure on all the details.  Toasty has been doing a great job at pushing for this so he has all the info.
